I've got my buddy's GVR4 here for a few weeks while I do a bunch of work to it so I've been driving it to work a couple of times a week to get a tune on it. It's set up nicely with a built bottom end, Tein SS Coilovers, a FMIC, Frank5 Turbo, and all the other goodies to go along with the stuff listed. So I'm coming home from work the other day, I make a left from a stop sign onto a two lane highway, and I notice a bright blue new GTO pulling out of a parking space at the bus stop across the street. I think to myself "nice looking car" and go about my dreary commute. I guess he heard me rowing through the gears and maybe even the open wastegate on the car because as I am cruising up the highway at 60mph I see the GTO coming up FAST. I just keep my 60mph pace and he blows past me at probably 100-110mph as if that is going to impress or scare me :roll: . Then he puts on his 4 ways like he just beat me or something :lol: . He slowed down until my front bumper was at his back one and then punched it but I was ready for him, grabbed 3rd gear, and punched it. Instead of pulling away like I'm sure he expected to do, I reeled him in and put my front fender about next to his, but before I could get around him there was traffic ahead so I dropped in behind him. Then he tried to dust me off through some turns but the Tein suspension and 17's really make the Gaylant stick to the road nicely. I really wish that I had my car because instead of pulling next to him I'd have drove around his stupid ass. The car I was driving had noisy lifters so as soon as you touch the gas the knock count goes to the roof and the car doesn't pull for shit without any timing. I put some 272's and new lifters in today, I hope I see him again with the new set up in the car :twisted: . Anyway, I guess there is one confused GTO owner in the Tuxedo, NY area now and he'll probably think twice before messing with an old Galant again.

i had a black gto try and leave me on 280 coming home from work the other day. i dont make enough to pull past him but he didnt have enough to leave me behind like he figured. this one was an older one, less hp correct? arent gto's super heavy and with low hp out of the box?

When I first saw them, I thought they were the single most boring car in the world. After a while I started to appreciate its simplicity and smoothness. It just makes every other car just look so cluttered in comparison. It really grew on me, and now I'm determined to buy one after my pos kicks the can.

The 04 GTO's had a 350HP Rating...Most Dyno'ed around 290-310 to the wheels. 05 and 06 GTO's Got Up'd to 400Hp...Now Granted I agree the styling at first isn't exactly Eye catching...But If you ever get a chance...Drive one. There not THAT Heavy...and there certainly not slow.

The Factory Tune on Many GM cars are pretty much horrendous...They leave alot on the table as far as tuning the car and gainine more power.

theres 2 GTO owners I know personally and talk to on a normal basis...Both are 04's one is a 6 speed and one is a A4 Auto...Not to Act like I'm whoring out my Friends rides...I just Hang out with a Big group of guys who drive Diff types of Cars.

My car isn't running to full potential yet SO I have yet to even ask to race my two Buddies...The 6 speed Goat is Cammed and Tuned esseentially and Goes 12.7...But he's getting a Bigger Cam and Heads...And Other Goodies...So I might stick to racing the Automatic GTO ;)

when I saw a pair of GTO's at the track last season I was impressed. The only thing that worried me was the rear suspension... it seemed like on every launch, the rear of the car would slam straight down HARD. Not the normal bounce, like a good 2-3" hugging the tire. Both of them would do this. It's probably for a reason from the factory, and if its not, I'm sure nothing a set of coilovers cant fix.

Where the fuck do you get your info? The LS1s run easy mid 13s stock and the LS2s run bottom 13s stock. With a tire they'll go 12s easy.

I've got the car and driver issue right in front of me. They rated the car at 5.3 0-60mph, and a 14.0@102mph 1/4. This was on the 6spd 350bhp one, not sure if the newer models are much faster

Their ratings are just guesses. My friend went 13.8 with the 350hp goat.

Then you know nothing about Cams and how they work.

The bigger the Cam the more power you get. It's a Small Small step up as far as a cam goes. The intake makes noise...the TB gives him what...4WHP...so really your working more off the tune...Which in turn can only go so far with mostly stock parts.

I'm sure he'd be more than willing to let you come down and drive it since he's such a horrible driver and all :roll:

in other news, and this information should be like a staple for all you bench racers out there
ls1 camaro/TA will go 13.2 stock when track and driver is great
LS1 goats have trouble matching that with their torque management system built into the pcm, which needs to be tuned out
LS2 goats like never break 12's show room stock without DR's and no air filter and same torque management garbage

I saw a BONE STOCK ls2 GTO go 12.9 Twice at Atco last sunday...He ran right next to a New Charger Srt8. Is it hard for them to go 12's...Yes.

ls1 GTO's are Slower...But with a Good Tune it Definatly Opens the car up ALOT more as far as power goes.

I found out the True Cam Specs...207/220 Cam...Is essentially a zo6 cam in a GTO. He gained 40WHP on the Dyno and before cam went 13.1...after Cam 12.7.
