Second of all, if your stock or close to stock dsm breaks down systematically, you either bought a complete POS which you should just sell, or you absolutely suck at maintenance/modding.
Unless you have a track monster, there really is little excuse to have a car that breaks all the time. It is only when you start to heavily mod these cars when shit starts to really break, but that is the same as with any car.

And Joe, I actually might head to E-town on friday. I've been dying to get a total weight on my car, so this might be a good chance. I just gotta find a battery tie-down so I can pass tech :lol:

but in response. If you've driven your car "a few times" and it broke nearly every time, you bought yourself a lemon. Sell that shit asap. I've been daily driving my dsm for 2 1/2 years now and I've only had 3 problems which I fixed the day they broke. 1. Alternator 2. Passenger Front Control arm, and 3. #3 cylinder injector seal (probably from me forcing the injector in the hole). And thats it!! I dont care if i'm jinxing myself, 2.5 years, 40,000miles of my own driving, and I've spent maybe $300 in parts for repairs. I dont think its that big of a deal. If you have a problem with that kind of reliability, then go buy a civic

I mean all things considered it really isnt a bad time for all bolt on's and such. They havent touched the internals, stock blower, no nitrous, stock injectors etc, but I'm just using it at a reference to the fact that jeff doesnt have these mods, so his times wont come close to that. These cars are new and fairly untested, I expect to see much faster times out of them soon once the setup is fully learned and tested, but its not looking good for jeff and his intake filter 8)

so no faith in my driving abilities?? If you read more into the forums you will notice that about 95% of the people on that site are freakin retards who can't drive and know nothing about cars. The stage kits JUST came out, so maybe 20 people in the whole country have them installed on the car and went to the track, so those numbers are unreliable. I garuntee you nobody on that forum ran dot's at the track because they probably don't even know what they are. However, I know Kyle should poop all over me. I'm just going for track times and to practice launching a FWD car. Give me a month or two and this match will be a little more even.

Amazingly the traction has really picked up in my car with the warmer weather so I should be alright at the track. This time around I'm going to be running my super-sweet hankook street tires and I should be able to hit low 13's. Really all I'm looking for here is a half decent trap so I can see what to shoot for next time around when I bring the sticky tires 8) On slicks I'm going for a high 12, but who the hell knows whats actually going to happen I'm just bench racing. For all I know I might be running high 13's all night with no traction. My real goal is to trap over 110, but we'll find out soon enough :twisted:

yea...back when I had my camaro, I had the corvette ZR-1 polished rims mounted on Kumho directional tires. Now I had a mishap with my caliper where I messed up the rim, so I needed it replaced. I got a new rim, and the mounted the tire in the wrong direction first of all. Then after seeing it in the opposite direction, they tell me it can't go on that side of the car and that I need a new tire......

....I had to actually go in the shop and SHOW them that if they mounted the rim in the opposite direction, it would be ok. :roll:

First of all my clutch was purchased used, and on top of that I have put about 2000 miles on it already, so if its not "broken in" yet, I dont think it ever will be. Second of all I have practiced the launch on the street a few times, but learning the launch on the track is the fun part about being able to get in multiple runs in one night. And if you think we both suck at driving so much, wouldnt our suckiness cancel out and create similar crap times? Both fwd, 2900lb, boosted 4cyl, street tire, new to launching the setup. I dont see any real variables to me not beating a 14.6 except missing a few gears or giving it the good old oil down. Once my car is fixed i'll head back out to the track and get some times.

Overall I was fairly impressed with Pika's timeslips. They actually seemed extremely similar to my times with a catback/airfilter. 14.6@98mph isnt bad at all for a stock car. The driving was consistant as hell pulling 2.3 60's on all but 2 runs and between a 14.6 and 15.0 all night within 1-2 mph each run. I honestly dont think he could have driven the car any better.

I told you my times already... there really was something wrong with the car that night. They started the day before, but I thought I would give it a go at the track anyway. Trapping at 102 sounds like crap, but considering it was pulsing the entire way down the track and I couldnt maintain any kind of stable afr, I am confident the car has over 110mph in it. Now I just have to track down whatever the hell is wrong, fix it, and get an actual time.

go to island on a sunday. track will be prepped awesome becuase all the license pass guys will be there along with all the other 7-10 second cars. they hardly prep the track at all on fridays for street cars.
