So after a stupendous showing at Island where me and my car sucked horribly, I got into a tiff with a deer carcass. Coming up 287 doing a cool 75 in light traffic I suddenly see nothing but brake lights. Last second I see the car in front of me swerve and in the middle of the road I see a nice half of a deer. I cut hard left but it was too late. I clipped it with the passenger side. I get home and see deer jerky all down the side of the car, spun up in the wheel wells, coating my rims and tires and hanging from any protruding pieces of car underneath. Let me just tell you, deer meat hardens quickly. I cleaned off what I could down the side of the car but the rest in the wheel wells and on the rims and tires is caked on. Also snapped 3 bolts holding on the belly pan, cracked the underside of the rear bumper behind the wheel and dented my exhaust. I'll deal with it tomorrow. I look forward to the smell in the morning.

Dude suckage... I hope the damage was minor... for you, not the deer.

Damage does not seem too bad. Bolts are replaceable, the exhaust is dented on the underside, as is the bumper. Should be OK, just completely annoying. Oh well.

Rich, sorry to hear about that man that truly sucks ass. I almost clipped a deer on the way home as well in the Supra, but this one was alive and prancing across the road and I somehow missed it?!?! Of course, I had to take the back roads home (Hackettstown, Long Valley, Tewksbury, etc). Was good seeing you guys again and let me konw when the Lotus is fixed. You, Rene, Luke and I will do a grudge match next time :D

i've never seen so many cars at island before... it was rediculous

That sucks Rich, too bad you weren't in the truck!
When you guys were in the staging lanes and we all were talking, I walked back into the stands and passed a group of kids who were pointing at your car going "yo homes, check out that lambo yo, shit is sick!" Ha, I didnt correct them, but you make it out to one meet and your famous

you'd be surprised how much the lines resemble an older lambo. Rich, nontheless, that car is a beauty!!

Thanks guys. Actually most people ask if it is a Ferrari although I do get the Lambo comments too. After they saw it go down the track I am sure they were all saying how slow it was. Gay. Too bad it isn't in the hands of a more competent driver, but oh well. I love her just the same.

No real damage after checking this morning. Just some caked on deer jerky. I had same size bolts so the belly pan is secure once again. Now I just need to clean her up. She was overdue for a cleaning anyway. I also want to get underneath to make sure nothing else was hit but I think she'll live.

Good seeing everyone. I'll have to bring the Lotus around more often!

i hit a smashed deer too. i was following behind a van and since vans ride higher he just straddled it and went right over. i swerved real quick to try to miss it and caught it just alittle bit with my front right tire. amazingly enough no deer guts were splattered on my car just in the wheel well. there was no damage at all to my car. im just glad it wasnt a huge buck with antlers.

Great seein everybody again last night. We gotta do that again. Rich sorry to hear about hittin the deer in the Celica... Just call up the local Toyota dealer if you need any parts. I've hit dead deer before too. The smell takes a couple days to go away.

Rich went 14.6@100. Pretty quick for a Celica!

As Goldie said, 14.6@100. Piss poor. Nate said I wasn't even on the gas until almost half track. Checking the logs, he was right. I guess I am too much of a pussy to drag the Lotus. Too much fear of breaking I guess. Car also wouldn't give me full boost, had high intake temps until half track, had some knock and also low voltage until the run was over. I think she may hit the track again once some fine tuning and adjustments are made. She should have so much more in her.

Make sure you get her cleaned out real good. I ran over a dead deer once while trying to pull over. The smell hung on the car for weeks, and I couldn't use the A/C or roll the windows down because it would suck the stench in. You might have to pull out the powerwash.

I believe it. I got the whole underside cleaned good and now I just have the wheel wells and tires to clean off. I ended up claybaring the whole car, inlcuding the rims. It was the only thing in my arsenal that could clean off the deer jerky. That shit was caked on. On the bright side, the car hasn't looked this good in years.

Bite me T.... the car hooked up in late 3rd gear and by that time, the run was more than half over. If I had DRs on the car, would have been a different story, or we can run from a roll... lol
