Alright well since my car sucks I missed the last njdsm shootout. Me and Tom (Blcknspo0ln) will be fighting it out this time with the stipulation that my car is in running condition. Just seeing who will actually show up to this one to either race or spectate, so that some of you more southern folk can work out cruising/carpool.

It's looking like Ill be ready to rock with my dsm May 8th. Most of my parts will be arriving this week so I can hopefully have it all together and running for next friday.
Coming in this week:
SCM61 internal gate
Vibrant 20" x 9" x 3.25" fmic core
(hopefully going to be the new cheap "budget' fmic kit that will work for 2g too)
Tial bov, gotta make fmic pipes and intake pipe
Brent's Kosei 16x7.5 wheels and big ass Micky Thompson Drag Radials
Still need fucking xcase bolts! how stupid am I.

I could probably do that. I'm not 100% if my car will be ready but I'll come and watch. Maybe I'll ride the streetbike since I've had it for almost 5 years and never made it to the track with it.

ooo John you made me remember.... last week at the track that guy took a spill off of his bike off the launch. I dont mean to poke fun at the guy since that has got to suck, but I had completely forgot about that. And Nate, I might be able to work something out with those bolts since I'm going to be heading up to John's place tonight... let me know if you want me to just pick them up for you and either drop them off at the shop or bring them to the track Friday when I'll be up that way. one major problem though, no leather jackets. And I am sure as hell not buying one for this. Matt or jon no longer have theirs.
atc250r
04-25-2006, 10:16 AM
I've got a leather jacket that one of you could probably fit into and I also have a Joe Rocket mesh jacket that is too big on me so one of you will DEFINITELY fit into that. The mesh one has the built in "armor" so it should be legal too. I don't think they'll let you guys run the dirtbikes on a Friday since it's street night and they aren't street legal. My buddy tried to run his Banshee there a few years ago and they told him not on street night but he could come back on a Saturday or Sunday and run it if he wanted to.

we had a conversation with the tech guys and they said it would be cool, even with the knobbies. Its going to be a comedy show either way as I have doubts that they will hook up, even doing 3rd gear starts. That would be cool though jon, thanks alot. You should bring the trike.
atc250r
04-25-2006, 10:56 AM
I already asked, they gave me a resounding NO! to that question  . I have a long swingarm and a set of Hoosiers for it that would work great at the strip but they would never let it happen. Although, you guys have some pull down there so maybe you could get them to let me make one pass. I promise you that thing is FAST and you won't be dissappointed.

Well I have seen guys run quads, but never a trike. That would definetly be something to see. Nate and I were only planning on running the 1/8 as I dont think we will have enough gear to make it to the 1000' mark, let alone the 1/4. We will have to talk to them and see what they say.

BTW I talked to brent about the kill switches, he said RRP or any shop that has quad parts will have them..about $15. Quad riders need them to race or even ride at most of the practice days on mx track, so it's a super common thing. No sense in spending 2 hours & 3 trips to hardware store trying to rig something up, Ill just go spend $15 and buy it.
Even if we have one single leather jacket, that's good enough for us to take turns. I have my feelers out to borrow a leather jacket from some of Mike's friends who have street bikes, but I have a feeling they will be too small.

Ive seen snow mobiles run on fridays, so i dont see why theyd give you crap about dirtbikes. And regarding the "street night", fuck them they let those supid ass junior dragsters (i hate those things with a passion) run and they arent street legal.

Right I forgot about the cheapskate DSM spirit. The motto of "why do something the right and easy way, when you can reinvent the wheel and spend 5X the money hacking shit together yourself"
I can see doing it myself if it would actually save time or money. Trying to rig up a $15 item is pure stupidity. It's like trying to build your own boost gauge, molding your own A pillar pod, or cutting out your own gaskets from paper.

or get a 2 stage boost controller. Traction at the track is going to be different, so don't get your heart set on a certain rpm, depending on the prep it will be higher/lower than your street rpm. I take it you don't have a studderbox? getting some boost on launch will make it more consistent.

How bad is Island with plates and reg.? I am using a dealer plate. I need to get my car back to the track asap after all the bad luck at e-town. Car went a 10.1 blowing the ic pipe in 4th,but did go 118mph in the 1/8. Also how packed does it get,can you get more then 3passes in.

GET THERE EARLY. If you show up at 7:30 your gonig to get 3 runs in at best. If you show up at 6:00 you can get 10 runs in. People serously start to flood in around 7pm, and since tech is so slow, they all bottleneck there and at the gate. If you get in right away, get through tech fast, you can hot lap for the first hour while everyone waits in line.

Sounds good to me  PM me your address Kyle.
Also, slipping the clutch isn't as easy as it sounds. The guy that installed the clutch that had before me went with some crazy grabbing clutch, probably similar to the 2600. There's so little play between it grabbing that if I don't hit it perfect everytime, i'm going to have wheel spin / bog. Oh well, I hope those 10 runs tomorrow will help me learn it a little more.
Mike - I don't have a stutterbox nor a DSBC. Hopefully I will be going with link soon and I'll be able to play around a little more with the addition of DR's.

that sucks kris, I just had mine out in december, cant say it was fun. Get some ramen noodles and prepare to loose some weight. I lost 20lbs in 8 days. (I tried eating ice cream but it was like trying to swallow razor blades) Although I have to say that it was the best thing I have ever done and if the pain was 10 times worse, I still would have done it. Completly cured my sleep apnea. Its like someone putting 3" intake on your mouth and you can finally breathe normally.

make friends with the starters at island. they have a shit lane and a good lane on each side of the track. they push all the street tire retards onto the shit lane, and when big tire classic cars come out they push the cone over and give them the good lane. i used to go there a lot and the dude would see me coming and kick the cone over and actually line me up in the groove. i think he liked my car or something.

Luke....I actually noticed that on one of my runs. The guy pushed the cone closer to the center forcing me to be on the side of the lane.

go talk to the starter if you can, or yell out the window. i assume you are on slicks right? make sure he knows you want to be in the slicks lane.

Yup. If you are on street tires or are spinning your tires alot, they are going to keep you in the suck-ass lane. the cars with good traction stay in the good lane. If your spinning like a mofo, your just going to rip up all the vht/rubber that is stuck down to the track surface and ruin it for everyone else. Iv never seen them let fwd cars run in the slick goove, even with slicks.

fwd cars tend to drag a shit ton of water through the lanes too.
