MAYBE if you made it AWD, then it would be a cool sleeper.

Even if it was AWD and 700 hp its still ugly as all hell.

I tell you guys, if that motor was available in that car from the start...the progression from 1G, 2G to Evo8 wouldn't be as harsh. And I have a feeling even though the 3g styling is kinda strange, and even if it was only available in FWD...it would still have sold well with the evo turbo motor.

I can't see myself doing that since im with utah on the wheel reinvention, but honestly...if you have a 3g car already, it's probobly not that crazy of a swap. No worse than putting an 20det in a 240sx or a B18 in a civic.

Than again, Im also the guy who is taking out a manual tranny and putting in a slushbox in a racecar, so you guys probobly think Im a bit warped anyway

BTW: Rene, did you rent that? Me and utah were trying to guess what picture you would have for NJDSM of an exotic rental...noone expected a turbo 3g.

That should be a really straight foward swap. Aren't you the same group of people who thought that the Civic with a 4G63 swap was cool? I like it and I wish they would have built it, it would've sold better than the POS V-6 they threw in them and if they kept the price reasonable it could've been a "stepping stone" to buying an Evo. Even if they detuned it and put a smaller turbo on it to keep it from infringing on the Evo's performance territory it'd still be cool.

The only thing I'm iffy on is the clutch part of it. I know the V-6's had the same stupid snap ring "pull" type clutch that the Evo's did but I'm not sure about the 4cyl's. It's probably the same but that'd be my only concern as far as bolting it into place. I can't see the 2.4 block being much different from the Evo 2.0 as far as mounting locations.

My comment about it being wheel reinvention is simply b/c you can just get a 2g awd with a 4g63. Or a gvr4, or a 1g, etc..... The only point in doing this would be to open the hood and say, "look I have an evo motor in my 3g" And thats fine if that is what you want to do. But there is no performance advantage in have a 4g63 powered 3g compaired to a 2g. So thus you are just doing it to do it. Fine. Placing a 4g63 into a civic is different simply because you cant honda with one. The honda chassis having far more development and parts available than a colt/mirage chassis. The 4g63 motor probablly being more reliable under boost in at least stock vs stock conditions. Thus, I can see the point. But if someone wants to convert a non-turbo, FWD, auto talon, to a manual awd turbo, wonderfull, but you are doing it the hard way, bottom line.

Ralliart's "showcar" has a 4g63 and AWD. And to tell the truth, with their body kit it really looks like a more modern 2G. I liked it. If the car came like that factory I'd get one over a 4door Sti or Evo anyday.

But you forgot one thing Joe. Maybe the guy really likes the looks of the 3G? I think it'd be foolish to convert a 1G or 2G NT FWD to a turbo AWD because you could buy it that way, a 3G you can't. For that matter, what's the point in me building a turbo Mighty Max? Mainly because I want to see if I can actually do it and if I can make the wiring harness/engine from a DSM work in a Mitsu pickup then I know I can probably put one of those motors into any RWD I feel like  .

FWIW, it is a 2.4 block in that car. Even more torque to spin the front wheels!

the real question is " why wouldnt you do this"..

the motor thats in there sucks and why not put something decent in there to move that heavy shit box :D ....

I hear what you are saying and if that is what someone wants to do with their time, more power to them. But the mighty max would be an awesome sleeper, RWD, and probablly pretty light. Other than the looks (if one likes them) I totally dont see the point of doing this to a 3g. I would rather do it to a same year galant, that would at least be a sleeper.

Even cooler is the AWD suv thing that AMS did with the Evo8 drivline. That was cool IMHO.
