So my plans of going AWD have completely bombed. My parents decided to buy an apartment under my name so my "income to debt" ratio is through the roof right now and I got denied twice for a loan. Anyway, since it is marginally easier to get a standard car loan than a personal loan my dad has brought an offer up I can't help but think about. Should I get a new car? Obviously 90% of you guys will say yes, and if so, what car? I want something nice but quick too. I'm not talking 250 hp quick either, I need to have something that is giong to put good power down..

I can't think of any, so what do you guys think?

That's a little general.... you want a coupe or a sedan? FWD? RWD? AWD? I mean, the possibilities are endless. How much are you looking to spend?

sorry, posted it quickly.. I'm looking to spend 20-30k, prefer AWD or maybe RWD (no FWD bullshit ever again), targa or coupe.

I'm thinking the saturn sky redline or maybe a used evo 8 or new evo 9?? I don't know man, I still crave the speed of 300+whp 8)

Steve's Evo sounds like the best idea!!! Depending on when he will be willing to let it go.

I've been eyeballing the Sky Redline also. Looks pretty sweet.

Agreed, hands down one of the best bargains for a daily. I tested one and that shit is quick!!!! I also like the look of the new Saturn Sky Redline too, but you may want to wait until the 2nd year of sales, they should have all the 1st year "quirks" worked out :)

MazdaSpeed6
Evo
Sti
Legacy 2.5 (whatever the turbo is called... GT?)
Acura TSX or RL-S or is it called CL-S? (might be 35k and out of your range)
Dodge Caliber SRT4 (ugly IMO and not out for another few months)
ummmm............

I agree also. I'm actually trying to ask my dad to pick up legacy for next car. Also i was looking at their site and i found out that you could get it for 2000-3000 less if you purchase it before may 31th.

Why am I looking for a new car? Simply put, I'm tired of dumping money into my car and not being able to enjoy it when I want to and because I'm bored of it. I've modded my talon since it was stock for 3 and a half years and I feel like it's now a time to move onto a new project/car.

did u run low 11's or hit 10's yet with the dsm????

i dont think so... its not time to sell it... my car is a ticking time bomb and its a break down machine... but u can't let dsm's go... worse comes worse get an awd like u planned or buy some nice axles and slicks.. rock that thing into good numbers

On the brighter side, the search is on for a test drive of the sky redline  Perhaps a legacy GT too

yea man, axle and slicks would be a nice thing, but I'm very adamant about having a strict street/strip car. Minus the slight weight reduction at the track, I'd like to be able to drive my car to the track, run respectable numbers, and drive home. Having a 12 second track car and a 15 second street car doesn't appeal to me. Anyway, I may still have enough cash to pursue the 2g AWD option, but that won't be for another month.

ohh snap. who cares if you run slicks? any high hp rwd/fwd/awd car needs slicks at the track, you wont be running your best times without em. its a matter of 5mins with your car up on jacks to switch 2 wheels. anyway, gl with whatever you get. ever consider an 03/04 cobra?

I care if I run slicks or not. If anyone knows me, it's terribly clear that I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make my car faster. 5 minutes to put on slicks is not what I'm concerned about. My concern is to have a 12 second FWD car that is 12 seconds no matter where I drive it.

I've never really considered a muscle car really, just not my type of car. Although they're beastly as hell it's not really my cup of tea. Thanks for the suggestions so far though.

I was in your predicament last month. I had a honda del sol (beater) and a truck that was fairly new (32k on the clock) but only got 20mpg on the highway, about 16 city at best. Sold the del sol, traded in the truck, and picked up an 06 miata. Much better than the old ones in the daily driver role, roomier more comfort, quicker (170hp), looks better etc etc etc... I looked into the saturn sky/solstice and decided against them. Besides for having worse than typical GM quality (body gaps, tranny out of an avalance, flimsy interior, buzzy motor, no trunk space AT ALL with the top down...list goes on) they are 400 lbs heavier and rely on huge tires/wheels/stiff suspension to accomplish what the miata does on 205/17's with cushy audi like springs/dampeners, and the miata still pisses all over it. On top of all of that I average 30MPG beating on it mixed highway/city. And while I would like more HP, I know for a daily driver and a 45 mile commute there was no other car that matched all the criterion. Yes an evo would be awesome, so would an sti, or hell, I could've snagged a left over rx8 for cheaper than the miata but the gas alone would keep me from actually enjoying the car...food for thought.

yea, this freakin sux that the price of gas is determing what cars be buy to drive everyday. i miss the days when I could fill up my camaro with less than $20

Don't worry, gas prices are only going to go up. Even still, pull your dick out from in between your legs and don't let the man get you down. Buy what you want and grin and bear with the gas price. Cut back on little things and gas prices won't hit you that hard.

fuck gas prices...

just ignore the price...

give them the $20 or $30.. watever u get and dont loook at how much per gallon

heh, gas is always gonna hit me hard. i fillup everyday, with a car that uses regular and gets 25mpg, 45$ per tank, for regular! im starting to notice prices are actually cheaper in PA opposed to NJ. it used to be the other way around, but now i see regular for like 2.70 in pa, and its still like 3.00 here.

g35? not really that quick but the 6spd is a lot of fun to drive i think...and i really like the way they look and stuff...you can get a 2004 wiht sport package and lowish miles for mid-low 20s? i've been looking into this too...i dont like throwing money at my car anymore..i dont even have time to drive heh
