I have a 6 bolt in my 2g and originally i was having idling issues because the TPS was still from the 1g. I changed it for the 2g tps sensor and everything seemed ok. It would idle fine after warming up. Now, it seems that recently, after turning the car on, the idle will surge at high rpm's and slowly decrease rpm's while surging until the car is warmed up, then it will idle normally.. What could this be? I remember this happened when i first installed the 2g tps but someone told me that it would do that the first time i installed it cuz the cars ecu is getting used to the new tps. Has anybody else had this problem?

LOL, has anyone else had idle surge? I think a few thousand people perhaps...

Check out some of these links. (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=dsm+idle+surge)

Also, do you have a hacked/highly hacked MAS? My surge dropped to almost nothing when I put a near stock MAS back in. Today was the first morning this year I started to get any surge. Time for me to swap MAS for the winter again ;)

You also might be prey to the bad ISC motor. They tend to go... a lot.

My mas is stock and has not been hacked. I will check for the isc motor. I just thought it was weird that it only happens sometimes and not all the time. Thanx for the help.

it may be your FIAV(fast idle air valve)There is a little wax ball in there that may be worn. It is the whole underside of your throttle body. Swap it with a known good one and see if it helps. Has ill effects in cold weather.

^^^ that one has the diagnosis steps to eliminate everything to the FIAV, since there's no real way to diagnosis that component.

My vote is for FIAV too. The ISC shouldn't come into the equation until the car is warmed up and the FIAV closes.
