Anyone currently using a filter relocation kit? I'm tampering with the idea of picking one up before installing my RNR O2 eliminator exhaust, because I've read about the issues people have trying to get to the filter for oil changes. Some suggest using the EVO filter, but I'd still feel better about moving it away from the downpipe. I'll also be adding my 90' oil cooler at the same time.

If you're not using one, have you heard good things about any one kit specifically for use with DSMs. I tried looking on SummitRacing for a generic kit, but they don't have a selection for the Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.0L engine. I just don't want a cheap ass kit, that is going to dumping my oil all over the road (no leaks). Any suggestions?

if you're ok with having no oil cooler, there is a forward facing housing that you can get.

Thanks Mike.

Yeah, I remember reading something about that also. I currently have a 90' style oil filter housing on my motor and a 90' oil cooler laying around, so I was gonna purchase the necessary fittings and s.s. lines to rig that up for a cheap setup.

I'm mainly concerned with brushing up against downpipe (when hot) while changing the filter. Worse case scenario is just purchase the more compact EVO filter, but I figured I would ask about people's experiences with the relocation kits.

with the way dsms leak oil and break hoses, I would be to paranoid to use a relocatoin kit witout doing it all with AN fittings and lines. Another mike has one on his car with an accusump, I believe it's all summit perma-cool parts.

I probably should have phrased my question a little better. I plan on upgrading to AN fittings and s.s. lines when adding my external oil cooler. I wasn't sure if there was a kit for the Oil Filter Relocation that came pre-assembled with AN fittings and SS lines (like DSMotorsports does with their AFPR s.s. line setups).

I rarely use the Summit website, but they don't even have a selection for the 2.0L engine (let alone turbo specific). From Tooners, I found this:

Summit Part list
1 Single Filter relocation kit SUM-G4985 $34.95
4 -8 to 3/8" adapter fitting EAR-100198 4.50ea
4 90 degree swivel fitting EAR-809108 $20.95ea
1 -8 Hose 10ft leangth EAR-310008 $61.95
TOTAL is around $200

I also found this too Click Here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OIL-FILTER-RELOCATION-KIT-WITH-BRAIDED-HOSES-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ46095QQitemZ8008346 649QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW) for $150 shipped, but it's ebay. (I know you get what you pay for). The main thing I would be concerned about is the quality of the adapters themselves.

That other Mike would be me. I got everything from Pegasus Racing and RacerPartsWholesale. Filter plate goes in the oem filter location, SS lines to a remote filter mount, and then onto an oil cooler (with an oil thermostat), then SS back to the plate. Its cheap if you get all the parts from racing parts places like above, and make your own SS lines with AN fittings. Now I run big a big Ford oil filter. Also, with the oil thermostat your oil heats up quick (like stock) and then cools once it gets to 190degrees. I've seen a lot of guys block off their oil coolers in winter and I didnt wana bother with that.

Another way to go is get the new oil housing (I forget what car its from) that some DSM places sell. You still have the factory oil filter in the factory location but a nice inlet and outlet for your SS lines to the cooler. If I didnt want a remote filter, and accusump setup, I would have gone that way.

Thanks for the input Mike. Since I was lucky enough to already have a 90' style oil filter housing, I don't think I need an oil thermostat, because I believe the 90' style housing already has one. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, since I read that on Tooners. The way things are looking, I may just piece together the fittings and lines and forget about the filter relocation, and just use a smaller filter.

Just out of curiosity, what size are the bango bolts used on the 90' style oil cooler? Anyone know off hand?
