I hadn't driven my car in a few weeks due to the crazy hot weather but I really wanted to drive it at least one day this week. Since it was only supposed to get hotter as the week went on I drove it today and got to make two kills on the way home. First some yuppie in his 5 Series BMW with a "DINAN 5" emblem on the back fucked with me a little but a quick 3rd gear pull with me totally crushing him taught him some respect for the Gaylant. He even gave me a beep and a thumbs up as he passed while I was getting off the highway.
Now for the REAL fun!! After I get off the highway I take a 2 lane highway (17A) to Tuxedo Mtn. into Greenwood Lake. As I pass the Sterling Forest Ski Area there is a 2005'ish Carrera S that pulled onto the highway as I drove past (that's how I saw it say "Carrera S" on the back. It was an older guy, probably in his late 50's or early 60's. As we got to the mountain he ends up behind me, I end up behind two cars and a old Dodge "hippie van" that crawls over the mountain at the amazing speed of 25mph  . At the top of the mountain is a straightaway that you can safely pass on (although it is a double yellow). I thought about passing the two cars and the van but figured I was almost home anyway. As I'm thinking this the old dude in the Carrera busts out to the left and starts to blow past me, I say "FUCK THAT" to myself, grab second, and reel his sorry ass in quick before we even pass the 3 cars that were in front of uss. I'm guessing he was like "WTF?? How'd that POS sedan pull me in like that????" and he decided to "check out" on me through the twisties but I've been driving that road since before I had a license to so I can hang with him for the most part. There was a few turns where I slowed down more than him since my Galant obviously doesn't handle as well as a Porsche and he made some ground on me but never enough to get me out of his mirrors and whenever we came to a straightaway I'd reel his ass in. I pushed the new brake set up past its limits and even the 13" rotors were smoking when I pulled into the driveway. At the very least its one Porsche owner who is going to bed tonight wondering how an old "Camry" was able to hang with him. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to see him one day on the highway where the handling of his car won't let him pull away from me.
