2:30 am, I'm crusing rt. 9 on my way home, doing 60, what I always do. Get pulled over in Marlboro for "failure to keep right." Gives me a warning and takes my PBA card. Wtf? Is there anything I can do? I'm fucking pissed.

do anything about what? Get your PBA card back? HA!

It's not a god given right to have one of those. He probably took it because it was your brother's girlfriend's best friend's uncle's card. Just be lucky you didnt get a ticket and forget about it.

a pba card doenst mean do what you want. when speeding and breaking other laws, that makes the cop that gave it to you look bad. be happy he didnt throw the pba card on the ground and write you more tickets.

Failure to keep right, holy crap. That cop REALLY wanted to mess with you but didnt because of the PBA card. Is your car ricey? If so you got pulled over by a bored cop looking to write some rice tickets.

That's exactly what happened, and that's why I'm kinda pissed. He came out of a gas station on the opposite side of the highway, hopped 2 curbs to follow my ass for 10 mins. My car isn't really ricey... rims, drop, exhaust... The guy was a dick the entire timie.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/gallery/browse ... user=43235 (http://www.dsmtuners.com/gallery/browseimages.php?do=member&imageuser=43235)

I always thought cops honored each others PBA cards and only took them when the driver did something really bad. I'm just pissed I lost my card and the cop did everything he did to harass me. Now I have to mount my front license plate (which he didn't see).

serious question. Whose PBA card was it? Your fathers card, or just some random dude? If its not a direct family member, they will take it from you because you dont deserve to have it.

And

If so you got pulled over by a bored cop looking to write some rice tickets. is called a "pretext" pullover. You see a suspicious car, so you pull him over for improper lane change or something stupid, just to see whats going on inside the car. Seeing you driving at 2:30am on a Friday, he has to automatically assume that your coming home from the bars that typically close at 2am. When he noticed you were piss drunk, he took the pba card for X reason, gave you a bs warning, and let you go. Dont be offended

we need a new thread just for kyle to answer just like tri state's "ask the law" where they have a cop come and answer questions. we'll call this one "ask the criminal justice student"

Did I mention I wasn't drunk? Is there a reason I can't have a pba card if I'm not directly related to the guy? What if I'm a good buddy? I guess the only reason I'm "offended" is because I thought cops had better things to do... like go after criminals, instead of harass the driver of a vehicle that they arbitrarily deem suspicious.

Yeah fucking deserved it for cruising in the left lane, i hate people like you. Your car aint gonna fall off the road if you stay right. Im glad you got pulled over, all you left lane lurkers hold everyone else up. I dont care if nobody else was on the road, you do it at 2:30 i garuntee you do it all the time and cause traffic.

Yea sorry about the spelling error, I meant "wasnt" and typed "was", and there is no edit function in the shit talk so I just figured that you would realize what I was saying. And yes there is a reason why you cant have the infamous "pba card" if your not a family member. The real pba cards are the metal one's with your name engraved on them and your relation to the officer. Those technically arent supposed to be taken from you, but for good reason. If you just had a stupid paper one, thats not even a pba card, its just a business card. Anyone can print one of them up and pretend to know a cop.

You guys have to realize that being young male drivers(1) driving a modified car(2) on a highway(3) in a boring town(4), right as the bars are closing(5) on a weekend(6), a week before the end of the month blitz of meeting quota's(7); you WILL get pulled over.

haha go ahead. I dont pay $24k a year to just party all the time. Alright well maybe I do, but the law program aint half bad here either. Anyway, half the shit I gotta school you guys on is common sense. People always crying "boohoo i got pulled over, the cop wasnt fair, why do I always get singled out?" Doesnt take a law degree to figure that one out, but hey, if you wanna keep asking, I'll keep responding

he didnt deem you "suspicious". he was doing his job by pulling you over. driving in the left lane is illegal and you got busted. it doenst matter if its 230am 430am or 1230pm. the law is the law no matter what the time(in most cases). as far as going after criminals, you made yourself one.

haha your a moron. Time certainly does matter. He was suspicious because it was late, and driving a modified car. If he was in a Ford Taurus at noon on a thursday in the fast lane the cop would never have batted an eye. There is no reason he pulled him over because he was legitimately concerned over someone driving in the fast lane. Cops are looking for big busts: drunk drivers, drug busts, warrants, etc. They could give a shit less about a $50 moving violation with 2 people on the road.... It is called a pretext pullover. It is an actual term in one of my textbooks, I'm not making this shit up

a pretext pullover and reasonable suspicion are not the same. he would have been suspicious if he was swerving or crossing over the lines. pretext pullover is just what you said, pull a guy over for the most crazy reason and hope to get a drunk driver, example no insurance or drunk.

i also have my AS in criminal justice

Paper? Last i saw the FOP cars were credit card type plastic. I thought PBA was run out of NJ. I do agree however that left lane drivers deserve what they get, state law says keep right unless passing.

There are definitely paper ones, there are also plastic ones, as well as metal ones. Obviously the metal ones are the best ones to have since they typically will have your name engraved on them. A kid who lurks this site from time to time, Matt, I believe had his engraved metal pba card taken from a local officer for one reason or another. Shit happens

I always take the left lane on that hwy because it has less pot holes. Plus, it was past 2am and I was passing thew few who were on the road anyway. I was pissed that night because he stopped me and took my card for some BS reason, but I'm over it. Ya'll need to chill out and support your fellow DSMers vs cops more.[/i]

cruising in the left lane is like THE WORST driving offense in european countries, like Germany you wont get a speeding ticket but god forbid you get in someone's way on the autobahn. Not to mention its a huge pet peeve of mine. I hate people who pass on the right too, makes me want to run right into those fuckers

steveVR4

The people who pass on the right have just given up on the people who cruise in the left lane. Can hardly blame them for that.

Sometimes I like to get on my cell phone and drive 10mph lower than the speed limit in the left lane.
