Has anyone in here successfully used a USB to serial adapter to connect theyre datalogger to the computer??? i finally got mine today in the mail, installed all software.. but can't seem to make a connection work
anyone got any input???

doesn't work as far as i know. i tried it a while back with 3 different laptops and o/s.

thats really odd..
ud figure theyd have an adapter that works..
im trying to install the updated drivers from Tripp-lite (company of my adapter) and i can't get those drivers to install..
this stinks.. guess ill be buying a serial port and installing
i use a keyspan adapter with dsmlink. Havent had any problems with it.

I use Radioshaks adapter with zero problems.

Radio shack and Keyspan are the only 2 I can ever get to work properly.

I think its more of a driver issue than the cable itself. check for conflicts in the device manager or try a generic usb driver.
click start
control panel
system
hardware
device manager
expand universal seriel bus controllers...if there's a (!) in yellow next to anything there you have a conflict. doubleclick that thing and there's a troubleshoot button...it might look for a new driver for you just follow the prompts. the biggest problem with shit like that is having too much garbage installed on your laptop...I found out that I cant have my obd2 logger installed at the same time as my printer or my digital camera hookup, so if you have too much shit installed already you're more than likely fucked on a laptop with one usb port. then again, I'm not exactly an expert here so if any computer nerds have something to add feel free :P
