View Full Version : Tapping J-pipe
So for an external wastegate setup on an electronic boost controller you need a pre-tbody boost source. I dont have one. What do i need, where can i get it, and how do you guys recommend tapping the j-pipe?

What turbo due you have? Most aftermarket turbo have a nipple on the compressor housing. Thats what I see 99% of the people use including me. It's going to be hard to tap into thin a wall i/c piping unless you weld a bung to it. I would tap the compressor housing close to the outlet.

This may be a dumb question but why do electronic BC need the source to be pre tb?

Probably the same reason manual boost controllers do.
And I agree with BrRyder, tap the housing....

No, with the ebc, one line goes to an intake mani boost source, one line goes to the top of the wastegate, and another line goes to the side of the wastegate but with a pre-tbody boost source T'ed into it.

you can do that with a manual one too.
when you let off the gas your manifold goes to vacuum but your intercooler pipes raise boost possibly more than your high boost setting.
