Got my new hood. Need four holes: hood pins and washer sprayers. Any advice so I dont crack the damn thing?

hey mike i dont think u will crank the fiber glass. u can just drill its and make the holes u need. just make sure u drill slow and use a new bit. fiber glass i think is a little/alot softer then CF. should be cake.

If u would like to take a make sure way, start with a small bit and work your way up. .

i think that should work pretty well.

Agreed. A small pilot hole first, then the regular bit second. Some heavy duty duct tape works well too.

yea i was just gonna say that about the tape, although I wouldnt recommend duct tape... that would either leave residue on the hood, take the paint off, or the strands could get wrapped up in the drill bit and cause mass havoc. I think painters/masking tape might be ok though as long as it sticks to the hood securely enough

nate drilled a bunch of holes in his fiberglass hood on the yellow car. Ask him how he did it.

Tx for the advice guys. When I took it to a body shop to paint it and told them where I wanted the holes they were like "uh, we dont drill holes in anything anymore after having to buy/replace a c/f hood for someone.... drill it yourself and then we paint it".

Definately go with the pilot hole and then the larger hole. If the stuff is thick you wont have a problem - I used a pilot hole and then a hole saw to cut an exhaust dump out the front bumper of my friends car for a custom turbo setup we did with an electronic cutout. You'll be fine buddy.

I think I just went at it slowly with the an 1/8" dia drill for the rivet holes. The center hole for my dzuz fasteners was like 1/2"...I think we used a step drill since the center hose did't need to be clean.

I had no cracking issues and didn't use tape. And we drilled after painting/clearcoating.
