After trying for 5 months to get the talon back in running order...I've decided to just start over and do things my way...It was a fantastic car when it ran and I wished it could start again and keep going for longer...being as the motor only has about 12k on it.
But I want to start over and am looking to build it up a little bit more than it is now.
I'm curious what you guys would suggest for a bottom end/Head rebuild as far as what parts to go with.
I know the Ross/Eagle combo is proven but if there is something better Like I said I'm defiantly open for suggestions.
what I'm looking for out of the car is about 400 to 450 on pump...Dsmlink,Fmic,EWG,Built head/Bottom End Cams.
The only thing I don't know what to get is the turbo...Because there are so many...I was originally interested in the FP red but like I said I'm always open to suggestions.
Anyway its gonna be a longterm project but I'm gonna start to rip into it soon.

450 is verry well reacheble with the bottum end u alredy have, insted of wasting money on stuff that u dont need,i will go for a fp30 series turbo, cams, smim, link, inj,s and a nice sized fmic,if it not broken dont fix it

any aftermarket rods/pistons/head parts will be more than strong enough for 4-450whp. realistically, you can probably get away with a stock rebuilt head, 3layer mls and arp studs. make sure everything is machined by a respectable builder (if you choose to get a bottom end, if you don't already have a built one), and your golden. get a bolt on gt35r and call it a day.

Hrmm.
Well without ripping into the motor...There may be an issue. In my efforts to try and get it running it made a very unhealthy sound like the motor just stopped turning over and it wouldn't move at all.
I have yet to see what the actual problem is
BUT.
I seem to be cursed with this car and its to the point where I'm about to start over and just redo everything...I dunno I'm the type of person that would rather go bigger and better even if it isnt entirely broken. That and I'm extremely agitated that the car wont fire after all the work I did in trying to get it running.
But...If the bottom end isnt harmed I might just do a better head so it can support the cams and run it till something breaks.
Either way I need to do something I miss my car.

It has 1g rods 2g pistons.
But I know after next year I'm gonna wanna go bigger...So why not prep for it now instead of doing it later.

Nah. I enjoy my car even if its broken. I will get more enjoymeny knowing I'm rebuilding it and getting a decently setup motor in the car.
Its something I wanted to do...now its just happening sooner than expected. I never regret anything I do...especially when it comes to cars.

Manley rods, springs, and retainers :D
You should look into Brian Crower cams. They're half the price as HKS cams:

Off topic question Jess.. does Manley make valvetrain for the Supra? i'm doing some upgrading over the winter and am looking into doing the valvetrain and some "other stuff" while I'm at it.
As for the Brian Crower cams, they are half price of HKS cams, but the reliability has yet to be proven. Stick with HKS, it's proven itself to be the cam of choice.

We make valve springs (single spring), ti retainers, valve locks, and we make several different sized stainless valves.
You didn't ask, but we also make pistons and I beam rods for Supras.

I'm going to have to get in touch with you then... I'm going to need springs and retainers for now. Stock motors on these things are stout and I'm not going to be close to pressing the limits at 700rwhp (which is my target), so the bottom end should be fine :)
