I have a FP big28, I love it. Great mid-range and part-throttle power makes it a great turbo for a commuter car and a good match with my auto trans.
Mods include:
550's
rewired 190 lph fuel pump
Hahn big smic with all hard pipes
1g t-body w/ 2g isc and emissions and egr blocked
1g cams
SAFC2
FP 17 psi actuator controlling boost perfectly
HKS SSV - surges on low boost driving, putting the 1g back soon
Keydiver chip going in soon
needs more full throttle tuning

I had a t28killer installed with all supporting mods and the turbo was a good turbo and pulled hard at 20psi with no drop in boost. Well I sold my whole setup to a friend with a 985spd GSX that is kind of beat to shit... well basically everything I had is now on his car. We took it for a ride at 18psi and results were amazing... and the car was only tuned on low throttle setting to compensate for injectors. I must say it felt atleast 50% faster than mine had ever been with that setup pushin 20PSI.

My experience with FP Big 28, LOL.
Mods: FMIC,650's,Comp 101200, only Maft 5% increments to tune, rest of supporting mods.
60' 1.64
1/8 7.71
MPH 87.90
1/4 12.272
MPH 109.59 Pump Gas 24psi spike, hold 20 til redline.
Since then I added Magnus SMIM and exhaust cutout but have not returned back to the track yet.
Trying for 11's on pump but fear of axles breaking is keeping me from another track run. I have an evo 16g in box ready to go on but i wanna make another pass with the t28 first.

My T28 was the old school Turbonetics, before all the other renditions. Instant spool, decent power, good if you want a low 13/high 12 second daily driver car. With me, good enough for 13.3@103 on pump gas and my shitty driving, not to mention was also good enough to pull on MikeL on an onramp going to the SO one year and was also good enough for 3rd place at said SO.

haha "on an on ramp" hahahah forgetting the rest of the story eh, the little 16g that pulled the b16g no matter how high greg turned the boost.

This is great!!! Such a coincidence too, because I called Dre last night to tell him that I found old VHSC tapes in my camcorder with video footage of the ride out to the Shootout in 2001!!! The one where you, Mike, were watching the porno on your laptop on the drive back? Also the one where Rich was running 13.9's in his 2g. Just too funny, I'm going to have to make mpegs of them and host them somewhere so we can all remember the good ole' days.

The little 16g with a 10cm housing :) What a crap turbo that was.... but in the end, you still pulled.

that was a damn good trip, 10cm= more lag than a 20g but a little more top end than the average 16g, still couldn't manage to pull dre with it. I eventually put a 7cm on it and lag went from 3600 to 3100, it still ran 113 that way. After that I upgraded to the BR20g which was an animal, I loved that turbo, many times I wish I hadn't gotten power greedy, and just figured out what caused my oil starvation on the 7 bolt and rebuilt it, it had no CW with 108k on it and kept the 20g, it was a perfect street setup.

Yeah, I would have to say that was my favorite SO trip, 2001. Great ride out and back, awesome time there. Mike, I had you bitch. By the time you started to build boost with that shitass turbo, I was past you and figured you were done. That is why you pulled afterwards. And Greg, I could run 13.9s ALL DAMN DAY BABY but I usually averaged 13.5!!! hahaha I took 3rd with a 13.3 though. I remember when Dave handed me my trophy... he just shook his head and said, "Damn I bet a lot more of you wish you entered this race!" hahahaha
And I concur Mike... 20g is by far my favorite turbo to date.
Good times...
