Hey guys/girls...

I know i been posting weird stuff lately but i gotta ask to find out what's going on right.

So here is my problem, So i took the car to jnz tunning to get the boost leak test most of the major ones are fixed but josh saw coilpack/spark plug wire was arching so he told me i should get new wires to see if this will fix this problem. So took the car back to the shop got the exhaust mani/new wires put on but it was still arching. So Josh told me that i need new coilpack which i have the 1g coilpack but didn't have time to get it replaced since i was late for class. So over christmas/new years break i was back in jersey so figure i'll try to swap out the coilpack.

So i unbolted the coilpack which is under the intake manifold to try to take it out from the side without taking off the intake mani/fuel rail. Try till 5 in the morning to get it out but no luck so i just wanted to see if the 1g coilpack will work so connect the wire on the 1g coilpack but i was too tired so decide to get some sleep. Before i went to sleep for some odd reason i decide to take the wire off from coilpack, while i was doing the #1 the metal piece that connect to coilpack came loose and got stuck in the coilpack. So i try to get it back on but i had weird feeling it won't work so look every where to get new wires so i could install new one. So long story short couldn't find it and everywhere i called said they could get it tuesday morning so i placed an order for new one. So got home decide why not try to start it with new coilpack but it did crank but it backfired also and then my friend told me to try the old one [which is 2g coilpack] it cranked but still didn't start. So today i got new wires and installed the new one try it start but car wont start at all with 1g and 2g coilpack

Yes i know the coilpack is 4-1-2-3 and cylinder is 4-3-2-1 1 being close to the timingbelt. I notice that 1g coilpack had 1 connector which i did connect but does the coilpack has to be grounded also some where? I'm down in philly since i couldn't really do anything else and had to come to school.

So i was wondering if anybody could help me out over the weekend? I'm thinking about unbolting the intake mani and doing it the right way this time. So i was wondering if somebody could help me out over this weekend.

Thank you,
Joe

sorry to make it so long.

If you put your location in your profile it'd help people decide if they can help you or if you're too far away. Sorry I can't be of any real help to you right now.

I was just wondering after you change the wire do you have to check for spark? Also ask one of instructor at school to see if i could get the 1g coilpack check out but he said it'll take long time and he won't check for me at school. Another thing was that he said was i should check the sparkplug wires to see if they are wet from fuel. I really hope i could get the car running this weekend so i could bring the car down to philly.

Thanks.

can anybody help if luke can't help me this weekend?

The make spark testers like this:

http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/LIS-19380.html

or you can use the old screwdriver arcing trick. I have a spark tester and I'm in West Orange, but I work all day Saturday. If Luke can't help you before Saturday afternoon, shoot me a PM.

You shouldn't have to take the Intake mani off to get the coilpack out...Just take out the fuel rail.

Okay first of all i would like to say thank you to Luke and Rene for helping me out today. So Luke came over today and he check the car out for sparks and fuel which was good but he told me i should do compression check so called up Rene for help, so he swing by and check out the spark plugs, timing and then did the compression test. It came out to be 175-75-120-75 so my 1st & 3rd cylinder has low compression. I'm not sure what this is caused by but luke and rene said it could be headgasket or bad valve. So i have no idea how to get the car started or running at the moment i need to go down on monday morning to school and i don't want to bring this car to somebody that dont know about dsm really well. So i was wondering if anybody could help me out by any chance, i need to get the head off to see if the valve is stuck open or for blown headgasket.

If somebody could help me out it will be appreciate the help.

Thank you,
Joe
