The 35 offset will stick out more than the 40 offset. I tried calling you last week. Pm me your # if you changed it or call me.

Fuck 18x7.5s! Get 18x10.5s with some 315+s!

that actually can be done as long as the rear fenders get shaved and a +55 offset is used. No need to waste tons of extra money on super wide tires for 170whp.

"offset" is how much the center of the rim (where the hub bolts on) is offset from the front of the rim.

You could have an 8" wide rim that sticks way out of the car if the center part that bolts on is near the back lip and have a huge lip (this is a large offset number), or you could have the same 8" rim tucked way under the car with the bolts face near the front lip of the rim and no lip (almost zero offset). Rims are always somewhere in the middle, but the offset tells you by how much.

40offset would be 5mm closer to the suspension arms and 5mm further away from the fender than a 35mm.

To run the biggest tire possible, you need to know what offset number puts the tire exactly inbetween rubbing the suspension arm and rubbing the fender at full suspension compression. Then you can put on the largest tire possible. This all changes with the brand of the tire (some are wider than others even with the same size stamped on it), how much larger or smaller diameter over stock the the tire is (profile vs diameter), how low the car is (suspension arms move and fenders are lower the more you drop the car) and how stiff you suspension is (the more stiff your springs are and the less compression travel you have the less the fender will move down on the tire).

A typical 2G DSM lowered about an inch has the perfect offset off about 37mm. You can run a 245 tire on that. If your car is very low and you have weak springs, you might need a 235 tire and 40 offset to keep it away from the fender. More than 40 you'd have to use a 225 tire.... etc.
