thats great, but I would have rather just looked for a dodge sprit RT with the 224hp 2.2 DOHC turbo motor and started with that.

Exactly... now if I would only get off my ass and do the 16v conversion to my Shelby :?

Hey Mike, if you know where I can get my hands on a TIII, let me know. I'd really like to do this swap.

they are always up for sale, you just have to pay to play. just get the entire spirit r/t and you are set. if you keep your eyes open, you can sometimes grab a runner for under $1000.

That's pretty crazy, theres also a LS1-V8 in a 3rd gen rx-7 in the latest issue of sport compact car.

you could actually buy a "factory" v8 miata. a company called i think monster-motorsports built them from brand new miata's with brand new ford 5.0 motors. you could also get a "mega-miata" from them. 5.0 with aluminum heads and all the supporting goodies, AND a blower on it in the miata.

hoooooly crap  . i can only imagine the retarded amount of force you feel when that thing takes off! surprised it doesn't do a wheely off the line. in fact, i also wonder how the hell it handles considering it has a HUGE (although aluminum) motor in the front end? how well is the weight distributed? anybody have any info?

I'm guessing it handles worse then factory, putting in that v-8 probably kills the whole "Miata/Track beast" everyone has come to know. I remember seeing a CRX with a V-8 as well, it was on tv on one of those rice shows "Nopi- something" and it was doing a rwd burnout, freaking hilarious.

from what i have read a sotck 5.0 with the cast iorn heads with half a tank of gas has a 53/47 slipt weight distribution. seems to be pretty dencent. the ls1 in the 3gen rx-7's actually loose i believe its 50lbs? could be wrong on that but i know they dont actually gain weight. pretty cool.

I've never seen a running Spirit r/t or any TIII for that matter, for a grand. If I ever did I would jump on it in a heart beat my 1st car was Dodge Spirit so i've always wanted a r/t one. However a turbo 5-speed minivan has also always peaked my intrest.

just gotta look around. to some they are just beater cars(to people who don't know what they have). we got one in great shape and drove it from long island for $1400. i know a few guys who snagged runners for under 500.

i had 2 5 speed turbo minivans, a turbo k car woody wagon, a few omni glh's, and a sundance turbo. td junky...

the reason the rt is at my garage is to swap the drivetrain into another turbo mini. 16v minivan "RT"
