Wiper Motor Joint

Anyone know how to remove the wiper motor from the rod that controls the wiper arms? There is a metal joint going into a plastic piece in the rod assembly and every time I pull the joint I feel Like I'm going to break the plastic. This is for a 1g

IIRC it's a snap fit ball and socket.

Ok, so I guess I should just pull it out and not worry about breaking the plastic or is there some kind of trick to getting it out?

I haven't done one on a DSM but the Montero Sport's used to need wiper motors all the time and the linkage just popped off. You'll need a pry bar or a big screwdriver to get it off though. Then when you put it back on you'll probably have to squeeze the ball in the socket with a pair of pliers.
