Is it necessary to change the oil quick when putting a rebuilt head on? Also, how much should I torque ARP's to? I have the molly lube that came with them.

Sorry for not searching around, i'm at work and will be busy. Have to tackle the job as soon as i get home.

I would put fresh oil in it. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Torque tthe ARP's to about 85ft lbs. Good luck.

Looks like someone got to a tech question before Luke.

Same here. Anything that comes back from the machine shop will always have the possibility of debri hiding inside of it even if they state that it was cleaned. Running the new parts along with the oil pushing through it's passages could break lose any of that dirt and knock it lose. It's better to be careful than careless so run the car briefly after the head install, get it up to temp, and then drain and replace the oil.

fuckin aye, took the old head off and a rocker fell out of it. Surprised she ran at all like that.

How about this for more power....

Driving home last night and I haven't really gotten on it yet, decided to roll out in first gear and then slam it. Tires broke loose after 5k rpm. Granted the roads were slightly damp, but never did that before. :D Also, that loose rocker arm seemed to be all my knock troubles. (Dont know if you remember that john when we were at island together last season) Car is running like a champ for the most part. Now if i could get it to idle fine. :?

agree with brent. put a new engine/head whatever on the car, run it for a few minutes to get it warmed up, then change the oil. One warmup is enough to flush any crap out of the motor back into the pan and hopefully not long enough to damage anything.

I put revised lifters in, and they are still ticking a little bit. Is it normal? I ASSumed they would be full after one day. Then again, I think i've put maybe 5 miles on the new head.

I've had it take 20-30 miles of highway driving to quiet them down. Take it on a nice highway cruise, that should bleed the air out of them.
