Alrite...
soo on my 1990 galant gsx i have been having a major problem...
sometimes while driving at like 3k or soo it will randomly drop to about 1000-1500 rpms and i can go full throttle and not accelerate at all... and if i go to stop it like dies... this happens if i let it idle too.. almost like its not getting the fuel it needs to rev.. than randomly it jumps to like 3000+ rpms and it drives fine.. than drops again.. than runs like shit and than jumps up again.... weird problem...
soo i started diagnosis on it and started replacing parts...
heres a list of the parts i replaced in trying to find the problem:
Coil
Spark plugs
Spark Plug wires
Fuel filter
Air Filter
02 sensor
Fuel Pump ( 2 different ones.. 1 used and one brand new)
1 Fuel Pump Sending unit ( elbow broke when removing line.. dont ever break one.. $652 new from Mitsu... but i had to buy a 1g one from nate and modify it to work in the GGSX)
MAF sensor
TPS Sensor
Idle Sensor
this freeking problem has run me into the ground with money and still no progress...
if u have any ideas.... PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!
thank you...

My car used to do the same exact thing. Is the car stock? Mine ran fine for a while and then started with the same things your is doing. My car i think has a fuel problem but its probably caused by my setup and lack of tune. I know that feeling, i used to get frustated as hell when my car started doing that.

u promise luke????
ive spent a nice amount of cash into fixing this problem already...soo i will buy an ecu to eliminate that
basically your saying thats all it can be???? cause when i baught the car i had to get an ecu for it... which lasted almost 2500 miles than started these problems... but that ecu probably wasnt perfect

Galant 2.0 NT = same shit as DSM 2.0 NT. as luke said, just need to swap the brass COLORED case to make it fit.

Just FYI Mark, when the line breaks off the housing like that you can fix it. I did my car two years ago and its still going strong. It used to be on VFAQ but I think it's gone, I can't find it. If you need more info, let me know but I guess it's too late.

luke my gsx is a 1990....
and i thaught the 91+ ecu's were different..

i drove the car tonight and it was soo inconsistant.. like it only crapped out maybe 6 times... otherwise it drove perfect...

11-18-2005, 12:14 AM
oh shit
yeah you'll need one from a 1990 eclipse then
or an 88-90 galant.
gvr4737

or 1990 laser... which i will rip apart tommorow at roxbury to see if ecu is still inside...
finally got my datalogger workin again soo i will hook it up to this car and see if i can find the problem

I hooked up the buzzer set up that i made from radio shack to check my code and this is what i got..
S L S S S L S S S S L L L L S S S S L S S S L S S S S L L L L S S S S L S S S L S S S S L L L L
so what is my code.. what is wrong with my car???? it throws the check engine light than drives like complete shit....

LSSS = 13 = IAT sensor
LSSSS = 14 = TPS
LLLLSSSS = 44 = Coils & Power Transistor
Long pulses are the 1st digit, short pulses are the 2nd digit.
If you've changed all these parts and you're still hosed, it might be the wiring harness....
Then again, some of these codes may be gone but the ecu never cleared it out of it's memory.

Check for a bad ground somewhere, particularly any ground straps going to the motor.
Also test the TPS.
Hopefully you've fixed this already since the thread is old but if not mabey this will give you a few things to check before you spend more $$$.
