Would anyone be interested in going to this event?

(Bottom of page.)
It's either/or day event or a 2day package. I am still deciding what I want to do but must likely the 2day package with the EvoX.
It is for all groups, meaning if you never been, like me, you can go.
The north track will be open:

I am guess there is a hotel somewhat close. I was planning on staying Sat night. I still have not set anything up.
I have never done this type of event and it will be my first time. But it looks fun. : :D
It's not cheap, 430 for the package, prob 60/night hotel, than food+gas. I might not be able to do it, I am going to vegas in june too.. I have to sitdown and budget everything.
I am just posting this to see if anyone is intersted.
holy bejesus, $430 is a lot.
what's included in the $430 package?

Ummm... that is about as cheap as road racing gets. You can run your car until you run out of gas as fast as you dare. They run 4 groups, so basically you race for 2 hours per day! I've done it three times and it pretty much ruins autocross.
I'd recommend going on the full track days though.
Figure on a set of pads/rotors and a set of tires for those 2 days.

I'd stab somebody for the chance to do a track day in a car that I trust to be able to handle that. Ive done some searches on tuners and DSMs pound for pound just dont work out. Plenty of guys do it, but maintenance is through the roof, so much to the point that your better off having a car made for that kind of abuse(good power & suspension,NA).

It's two days of racing. We go on the track right after the nascar 500 at pocono's. I am still unsure if I am going.

Yeah, as Dr said:
Make sure you budget in addition to that $430 for a full set of brake pads, a full set of tires, and likely a set of front rotors. That $430 can be $1500 for 2 days once you figure in replacing the tires you cord.

If you have shitty tires they will go right away. 400treadwear rating tires get that rating when you go straight. High performance and race tires will last a long time a track. You can get many events on Z rated rubber. But it all comes down to how you drive. If your suspension is shit and the car is sideways all the time, you will go through tires faster. If you're super agressive and at 9/10th in every turn, you will go through rubber faster.
Its the same thing with brake pads. If you have high performance pads, they last a long time on the track. Stock pads, forget about it. And you'll never need to replace a rotor as long as you #1 dont rub your pads down and cut into them #2 remember to cool down your brakes if you're overheating them. Getting off a hot lap and pulling into the pits and parking on overheated brakes is not good for rotors. If you get a flag theres only two laps left in a session, get out of the race line and do two cooldown laps like you're supposed to. If you need to get off the track without a cooldown lap or two, drive through the pits and drive around the infield to the tunnel and back without using brakes to cool them off.
I'm not saying I didnt do all that the first few times I did roadracing, I did. But now that I know and I have a set of race rubber and a set of race pads, they're not issues. If you show up with shitty tires or good tire that are almost bald, you wont be able to race and drive home on those. If you have crappy pads or good pads that are less than 1/3, you wont be able to get home on those. Also, I drive like an asstard pushing the car always. If you dont beat the shit out of the car, these are smaller issues.
So I dont think anyone should not go to a track event thinking they're going to go through a set of tires and pads each event.
With that said, I wouldnt do a two day event because #1 that adds in a hotel stay and #2 if something goes wrong with your car on the first day, you dont get a refund for the second day. I've popped a headgasket at an event, and drove home early. I've run out of brake pads at an event (before I learned) and went home early. I picked up a coolant leak in the hardpipe under the turbo, and went home early. etc

I have decided to go Satuday May31st only. I registered and prepaid.
As it stands right now my dad will try and take off work to be my crew-chief/cheerleader. If we had a trainer I would tow the car there, but we don't so it is driven there than driven home.
I am going to be running stock brakes + stock tires. At the momement I have 800 miles on the car. By the time the event comes around I will have 3 or 4 AutoX events under my belt. If the tires/brakes are less than optimal I'll replace them...Not with OEM tires b/c they are f'ing 300/each.
Any place to pick-up OEM brake pads, cheap? They are just stock brembo's right now. If not I have a place.
The car will be 100% stock.

Since you have new tires and pads, I dont think you'll be running those down to where you need to replace them. What are the OEM tires? If they're crappy I can see you seriously wearing the fronts down from their "new" condition depending on how you drive. If you're chirping the fronts on every turn then you will wear them down heavily. If you feel the front brakes overheating (requiring more and more pedal pressure for the same amount of braking each lap) then you might want to back off for a lap or two to let them cool. Overheating will wear your OEM pads severely. Dunno how EVOs are with brakes, but DSMs are horrible with OEM brake pads on a track.
