Looks like the 4/26-4/28 dates are off for the days they are.
On another note, the Etown autox is tempting to get my girl to go. Hmmm.

Luke, I just got off the phone with my girlfriend and I guess she just ordered a helmet tonight and is all about going on 4/26, so I hope to be there too driving her car as well. Plan on that weekend, weather permitting I suppose.
Here's some more etown autox events I found:

I've never run with Porsche NJ but someone told me once that you need to show up EARLY that they limit how many non Porsche and non club members can enter and they wind up turning away people once the non club member slots are filled. So a word of warning.

I'll come watch, it's 15 min drive for me. I guess I'll be the camera guy

what do i need? i have a snell 95 helmet, that any good?
do i need a membership?
TurboMike
04-16-2008, 06:07 PM
For what club?
SCCA clubs require a "temporary weekend membership" that you can only do twice. Most clubs (like SCCA) require a 2000 or 2005 SA or M snell rating, but a lot of times tech wont check and you're fine. Or just dont bring the helmet when you drive to tech and tell them you're using their loaners, then race in yours. I've seen a few clubs put stickers on approved helmets but most dont. If they do just use the loaners.

I have a 2005 rated helmet Luke, you can borrow it for your runs. The Porsche club is $40 if you aren't a member, but I have also heard that they really limit the non-Porsche cars so we'd have to get there early.

Because of "family commitments" I need to limit the events attended.
I've chosen MSNE as my Autox venue. I've been nearly the only one showing the DSM flag there for a couple of years. It is good to see Turbomike back at it.
I'll be there Friday the 25th.

so how early are you guys arriving on sunday?
CHRIS
04-18-2008, 11:48 AM
pre-reg for 4/20 at meadlowlands closed the night of the 16th.
how early is everyone getting there that didnt pre-reg??
TurboMike
04-18-2008, 01:43 PM
MSNE makes all the non pre-reg wait in a line on the side until everyone who pre-reg'd goes through. You gotta stand there and cant get your car ready or anything, very annoying. If you leave to get your car ready and come back to the end of that line, you might not make it in.
I gotta drop my pre-reg for this sunday, gotta pick people up at the airport and the pope is gone add 2 hours of sitting in traffic time to that. Sigh.

well BOYS i raced on sunday with the porche's
fastest miata ran their course at 46.5 and fastest porche, some track only 914 classic, ran 45.x
CHRIS ran a 56.6 and loved it. my falken ziex tires are so bad for this but i dont care. this is way more fun than drag racing, not that i ever broke out of the 13's with my old DSM
i will be there again friday with a local buddy of mine
TurboMike
04-21-2008, 01:11 PM
How was the reg line? Did they turn people away? The friday events are great because so few people show up.
CHRIS
04-21-2008, 01:52 PM
mike i was around #120 to register and they called it at 134 cars. some people did get turned away.
best place to get a helmet??? my last run of the day i had a stinky loaner, NEVER AGAIN!

04-21-2008, 04:41 PM
Wow AND it was supposed to rain (I assume that would keep some of the Porsches away).
If you never plan on track racing, you can get an M2000 dirt cheap or an M2005 if you can find one for a decent price. Some track clubs wont let you use an M you need an SA2005 or SA2000. I'm trying to find an SA2005 but they're all $$$$.
M's are cheap as hell on ebay, especiall if you get an M2000. Just make sure you get the right size.
CHRIS

cheapest ive seen so far for 2005 is $150

Also if you dont plan on road racing, get an open face they're MUCH cheaper. Some places will let you roadrace open faced also.

Now that you've done two SCCA are they saying anything about having to join national SCCA to run again? Just wondering how they're handling it or if they're ignoring the national SCCA rules that you can only be a "guest" twice.
Anyone going to PNC arts center Sunday? I might if I wake up. But they're calling for morning rain and nice afternoon so I might just bike in Bear Mnt if I cant wake up (likely).

It sounds like you can register as a guest more than twice but you can only apply two temporary membership fees towards the full membership discount. I just registered for a third event as a guest with no problems. I like the SCCA classing better than MSNE because I can be competitive in a stock car with SCCA. MSNE has too many allowances for my stock 944 to stand any chance of being close to competitive.

im already really bored with the miata.
This old job I used to have is now doing some work on Miata's, but I'm not sure if it's just engine builds or what all else they're offering. Maybe they can help get you some more power out of it, but I'd call and see.
It's Rossini Racing Products, in Stewartsville.
