This is my project for tonight to make some interesting photographs with shit found in the kitchen. I have a few more coming that are alot more complicated to set up but will hopefully turn out cool. One hopefully won't give me 3rd degree burns.

All done in camera w/ Nikon speedlights and tokina 100mm 1:1 macro lens.

Every bride isn't going to be a model, nor is every location going to a palace.

Making something interesting with the ordinary stuff is one of the main things a photographer needs to be good at. Be it making a homely bride and her new fat ass husband look good, hiding the VFW hall reception, making a boring shit car into an attractive page for a magazine, making the slowpoke rally drive look like he's flying, or making something out of a fork & spoon.....it's all the same practice and thought process.

It's easy to look at something interesting and push the button.

Yup, given time and cooperation, I could definatly produce alot of photographs that hide or take the emphasis off your fat face.

No offence, because my face is just as fat if not fatter. :D

A guy I work with just got married and was showing me his wedding pictures. The photog made his ugly wife look fairly cute. It took a lot of composure to keep the "holy crap your wife actually looks doable in these pics" comments inside where they need to stay.

Wierd Lucas. To me, that picture looks like a really nice computer generated image from a cutscene from something you might see in a video game. I think it is the cieling lights that give it that look. Pretty cool.

Nate, come and take some cool pictures of my Lotus.

Yeah, the rest of the slackers in my classes really don't like me and my brown nose. Then again, they are all 19 and 20 year olds and I remember how I thought about school then...Utah and Ryan can attest to it. I couldn't give a fuck so long as I was passing and did the bare min to get by. They are all interested in partying and not spending hours making photos.

I on the other hand, am paying for this and really want to learn everything I can and push my skill every time. Everyone gets pissed at me when I always try to get the teacher to make the assignments harder or more complicated. But the way I look at it, I only have so long before Im done and don't have my teachers to bounce ideas off of and get real advise.

But yeah, Im the one F'ing up the curve for the rest of them.

I always wondered why a 7 bladed diaphragm makes 14 lines from a light source, Ill have to ask in school tommorrow.

What program are you using for HDR conversions, Im getting pretty shitty results with the standard "merge to hdr" in photoshop.

Looks like a screen grab from halo or something for sure! Cool

I want to know WTF kind of lights turn pink in the back room. Id guess the lights in the front room are mercury vapor nasty green and the autowb picked that up. Orthochomatic lights F up the auto white balance alot and sometimes you cannot get it correct at all. Anyway, Iv never seen pink ones. :?:

Im going to do more, I have some more ideas to hash out yet. But im wicked sick right now, coughing so much my ribs are aching. guzzing nyQuil/dayQuil (both make me sleep). The only time I have to do any serious setup photography is at night when the kids go to sleep and it's taking serious effort to not take the nyQuil sleep-crash fest at 8pm so I can breath again.

I have to say, as much as I've bitched about NJDSM turning into NJPhoto forum, some of these pictures are damn cool.

I'd be really cool if one of you photography guru's came to Island or some other meet to take pics of the few of us on here that still have DSM's. You could make our shitboxes look like real cars!

Nate Crisman

Unfortunatly, Island has a "track photographer" so noone else is allowed beyond the fences to shoot since they have an exclusive agreement.

I can go shoot, but your going to get nothing but 200mm from the grandstand or "shot through the fence" crap. Same at Etown.

The really cool drag pics come from bring real close to the car, exagerating the car movements and perspective.

yeah it sucks...it's the same with motocross. The pictures are gay from the stands or outside the perimiter fence, even if you can stand on a truck or garbage can and get over the fence. The pics always just look like "spectator" shots.

The cool stuff is always taken up close when it comes to action sports, car racing. Unfortunatly all 3 dragstrips and both mx tracks in NJ are hardasses when it comes to anyone going onto the track area to photograph becuase they are freaked out about lawsuits, liability..ext.

Etown MX "might" let someone photograph, but only on days where the "track photographer" isn't there AND I would have to get specific business-injury insurance to cover myself in the event I got hurt there while photographing.

Im dying to go to a motocross track that will let me go anywhere so I can get under some of the jumps and take pictures with the 10mm fisheye lens of bikes flying over my head. Granted, Im not going to sue to track if someone lands on me while Im laying on the ground in the middle of the track taking pictures.

Nate, we have some good spots that you can shoot though. I mean evansville and irish valley wont care. I know we can get some crazy pics at our woods riding spot to. You have to take some pics of those insane drag line excavators.

I want to shoot those GIANT excavators at night and paint them with my 2mil candlepower flashlightt. could make some really creepy pictures.

Im planning to shoot ALOT next weekend at Irish Valley, hopefully get some final portfolio material for one of my school classes.

Hopefully you can figure out how throw whips like a pro for the camera by next weekend.
