Yea, I saw the same thread on DSMTuners. I might buy a ticket or two when I get home from work. Unfortunately I don't really know who this guy is. Otherwise I might be more inclined to help out.
I was dissapointed when one of the prizes was any JMF Heat Shield EXCEPT the one for the FP manifold!
He's become very popular and respected at DSMTalk cause he shares all his secrets unlike other 9 and sub 9 second DSM racers.

I'm not the charity giving type. If I had expendable money I would be, All I am saying is that financing a guy's racing trip seems pretty foolish to me, Even if there is a chance I can win a car part.
What I meant was that donating money to kids that are starving or dying of lukeimia makes more sense than financing a cross country trip so people can slurp on a nice guy with a 9second car.

Well aren't you a party pooper. :)
He is and he misses the fact that the vendors did provide lots of prizes and every 10th ticket is winning (even better if the whole 150 people quote doesn't fill).

Im not knocking the raffle, I just find it ironic and hilarous that someone who builds and races an 8 sec dsm is crying the blues for gas money.

I don't believe he was ever crying for gas money either. JnZ, JMF, etc is doing this as a favor in aid of sponsorship as their own idea.
So to clarify, no 8 second dsm owner is crying for gas money.

yes which is a direct result of them not wanting to spend any money. They probably laughed as hard as I did when they heard he couldnt afford gas.

As most of you know the diesel prices are through the roof, and we calculated around $2500 for the entire trip, thats not including spark plugs for the race car, fuel for the race car, oil, ect.
sounds kinda whiny to me, especially in light of the vehicle he is operating.
Listen, im only busting balls, I really dont care. I just think its funny.

Think we can lure Brent to Irish Valley next saturday with some candy? Or do we need to start a raffle for his gas money.
Afterall, he does incure alot of cost for chainlube, 1/2qt of engine oil, and a gallon of 93 for the CRF. (assuming it doesn't throw the rod (again))
BTW, I bet JNZ gets better publicity from running this raffle and all the tuners/talk going on about it than they would putting the same $/effort into just giving Jake the cash in exchange for a big sticker on the car. smart move on thier part. Not only do they get the word out, but they got 15 pumped up ticketholders who for sure will be buying stuff from them later.

I'll be at Etown autox'ing next Saturday, but hold on to that candy for me. That, and my bike's apart right now.
But yeah--definitely a good marketing move on JnZ's part. That's Chris (11secdsm) for ya. :)

ok so trip is 2500..... 25x 100 = 2500. 25x150 = 3750. heheh...i know the extra 50 are for chances in raffle...but the "not for profit" title doesnt exactly fit now :P

Utah--Haha, I don't ride it hardly any, but it is hard to start when I do, so now I'm checking out valve shim clearances (which ended up being fine) so I'm hopping onto cleaning out the carb next, and then whatever else I think will help after that. It also needs new fluid and seals on the suspension. I'm probably going to sell it in the end, but I haven't decided what the money will be put towards.
Twizzle--Not sure what the rest will go to. I think I recall seeing an Etown BOTI event on the schedule.....that'd be nice if it went towards that trip. I can find out what the rest will go to on Monday.

Simple solution...don't buy an old honda 4stroke. 5 year older yamaha's with hundreds of hours are still cranking away with thier original valves and heads while 50% of 2002-2004 CRF's sit in someones garage non-starting or apart.
shoulda bought a blue one if you can't get an 05 or newer, the old red ones are time bombs.
HA!
5. JMF heatshield (JMF)- T_K

Yeah the engine bay is pretty.
