Just got back from the track. We ran 9.17@160 during some shakedown passes at Island Dragway. We have a few little things to work out here and there but the car feels real strong. Here is a link to the the timeslip and video:

I'm sure your guy's little import car put a shock on a lot of people there today. Nice times, now get that 8 second slip! :D

Yea, I can't imagine going 160MPH at Island and then realizing how little time you have to stop!!!

Nice work Bean, did you pull the chute? Glad to see you guys got that thing out again.

And i can't understand the whole "cant stop at island" thing. I have seen cars run 260mph there. I had NO problems stopping from 120 with the stock, 30+ year old brakes on my 67 (and they are the automotive equivelent of putting your foot on the tire) Nate's car had not only stock, but very old brakes and made plenty of stops from 150mph.

No kidding about Island. I still maintain that if you can't stop a street car or modern racecar at Island, your just an incompetent driver (barring mech failure).

I bet I could stop my evo at Island with NO brakes from 130 with just downshifting and scrubbing. Bean could probobly stop thier 160mph evo with the Ebrake, engine braking, and a good luck turn at the end.

Only twice have I ever had an issue with stopping there:

Once in the talon when the coolant can blew up (it was placed in front of the tire.STUPID)

One time I thought it would be fun to try and run down a car past the fiishline. Racing a civic or something that ran 15's...I missed 2nd gear in 11 sec dsm (years and years ago) and pride told me to "beat him to the turn". I did a ricer fly by past the traps..BIG mistake.

Yeah, I did shock a few big block guys there. :D I didn't have to pull the chute. The car stopped fine with the 2G brakes on it. I think if it went 165 or so then the chute would be necessary.

I remember while driving your evo there once, it ran 115 at the line but I stayed on it until it was at 130 (however far that was), I still did not have to slam the brakes.

I've trapped 116 as my fastest and stopped fine on my 2g brakes. I guess I'd just be nervous going so fast. In any case...excellent work!

i've been asking for that for YEARS
we need a topic that says
"if your car is on the fastest list, respond with an update"
people who don't respond obviously aren't a part of our community, they get booted.
cars that no longer exist should be gone
cars that haven't made it down the track in 2 years should be gone.
it should be OUR fastest list, not people who reside around us who we don't even know.

lol, this site is basically a remembrance of the good ol' days, when topics that actually have DSM content are treated like a surprise. What are there like 4 cars that even goto the track that run 12's or faster here now? Someone taking pictures of a drag car gets 5x pages of responses in 2 days vs 1 page of responses for said drag car..

I will update anyone's time, just send me a PM, turbotaloon, sorry but I don't even know your name so send me the relevant info and I will update it.

It is a damn shame that the DSM "scene" is not as strong as it used to be, but I hate to give others a false sense that we actually have fast cars on here. The two Dogbox cars aren't even in this state anymore. Nate's car has a new owner and the parts from that car are all over this country. Jeff's evo can stay and it just posted a fast time. Jeff's talon was parted even before I bought a DSM. I highly doubt they will resurrect it. Your car can stay. Jerry's too if he still owns it. I think Rick still has his 1g. Jess's old 2g that went 11.5 has been parted and she has a new one thats gone faster. Does Nouri still even own his car? Bean and his bro can stay. Same with Brent. I don't even know who Gabe Saverese, Charles Punla, and John Riedmueller are. I'm so sorry that NJ DSM has slow members today, but haven't you thought that they might want to be recognized? We are the only ones keeping this site alive.

John R is Atc250r and still has his gvr4 I believe. Charles punla still works at ATX motorsports afaik and might still have his car. As offended as you maybe by some peoples cars being on there, people are equally offended when they are removed. Jeffs talon isn't on the list?? Nouri hadn't sold his car last time I talked to him either. Nate is the only guy that doesn't have a shop anymore, I always left the shop guys up there so people would know what they had accomplished.

I honestly don't have the time anymore, it's a very tedious manual update process, it was replaced with the garage function, which was broken by a phpbb update. (here comes the part where gtluke offers all the help in the world). Has the board been faster with less downtime lately? it seems to for me, the host did move datacenters and I think it was for the better. I plan to switch to VB one of these days, but I do the work that we used to have 3 people doing at my job lately and its hard to allocate the time.

The links to it, if you know the link it still works, but it used to be linked to your acct and in the top menu. I might try phpbb3 first, anyone have a review of that yet?

Go to someone's profile and there will be a link to the garage.
