So I figure if you're reading this you opened this thread because you read the title and were like "WTF?" Except you probably just said "what the fuck", not "WTF"....
This is me inviting anyone who is free on Friday over to help me get Taloon running again! My turbo/exhaust stuff should be arriving Friday from JNZ Finishing after it was ceramic coated and those were the final pieces needed to get the car going. I have a laundry list of things (mostly small ones) to do and wouldn't mind some help so it all gets done in 1 day. Some of the things are
1) 2 more motor mounts (going to get them pressed out from a machine shop this time)
2) Shifter bushings
3) Get mark to cut and weld the shifter (can you do that Friday mark?? pretty please???)
4) Install SSAC short route fmic kit and forge bov (involves cutting the frame/bumper support/bumper. anyone have a cut-off wheel and an air compressor??)
5) Open/clean/paint headlights for the 97-99 look.
6) Adjust clutch pedal
7) Tint side marker lamps
I think maybe a few other odds and ends and then just putting everything back together. I'm forcing dropout to help me on Friday because I know he misses fixing DSMs. But if anyone else wants to help in any way, it will be much appreciated. Thanks!

ha.. jeff i can do it anyday.. ur best bet is just give it to me earlier in the week and ill have it back the next day.. late nights welding in the shop are always alrite
other than that u could come over and we could do it as well.. my only downside is this week im working mostly nights except for Friday, which i have off!! lol
also you suck.. i basically just gave a way a set of perfect condition 96 headlights, that u coulda easily baked and done black, and a set of tinted sidemarkers!!! i woulda donated these to your cause... cause the kid picking up the bumper last night didnt even want them, i more or less forced it into his car

It's cool Mark, I have my head lights off and ready to bake. Side markers are easy to tint, and I have a can of NiteShades.
Unfortunately I have ZERO time this week, quite literally until Friday. I'll be out from 7am to at least 10pm everyday this week except for Friday which I have off. I could POSSIBLY get the shifter out Wednesday night and get it to you Thursday. If that's easier, let me know.

I would come if I didn't have work. BTW, don't let any HUGE screw drivers smack you in the face when getting the other motor mounts out. You owe me for that one, biotchhh!

Sorry bout that T! But you know if you need something, I got you.
Tom, unfortunately I have VERY little time now a days. I'm not going to rush what I'm doing, but I still want to try to get it running by Friday night.
PS - anyone know of a local machine shop (around the Denville area) that can press out my motor mount bushings? The place I called said they don't do machine work anymore :(

Yea, sorry Mark, I couldn't get to taking out the shifter yesterday. I'll hit you up tomorrow to see if I can drop it off to you.
JNZ Finishing is done ceramic coating the manifold, turbine housing, dump tube, and o2 housing and they should be at my door tomorrow in time for installation. Check out the link for pics, they look awesome

About the motor mounts. Unfortunately I don't have a vice, or a workbench of any sort, so it's difficult to stabilize the mount to get the insert out. That's why I'd rather just run over to a machine shop, have them pop it out nice and easy, pay them like $20 and be on my way.
... I did my mounts outside on the lawn with a hand saw, a big screwdriver and a rubber mallet...

That's what we did but on his garage floor, it worked but took a while. I wouldn't want to do it again, and I'm sure as hell Jeff doesn't either.

Bringing it to a shop is def the easiest solution, but I have a vice and workbench at my house if we wanted to do it ourselves again.
I didn't really mind it, it was a good excuse to sit outside on the grass. :)

Also tomorrow I'm pressed for time as I have A LOT of other things to accomplish on the car. Bringing it to the machine shop is just the simplest solution that takes the least amount of time. I just gotta find a place to do it near my mom's house in Denville.
