View Full Version : My best chance of owning my dream car

Well, I do not think I will ever have a better chance of owning a car that I have admired since I first saw it in 1990. Notwithstanding the Skyline which is getting more and more expensive (2007 model will be $70K+) and the fact that Motorex is going/has gone belly up, the NSX is a classic car which will be more exclusive now that Honda-san has decided to stop production (until a business case has been made for the next generation).
Well, I saw this ad on NSX-Prime yesterday and know that Alex (aka gr8laser) used to be a DSMer and is located in NJ. Does anyone have any information on this car other than what is posted? I do not want to bother the guy since it seems unlikely that I will pick up the car, but it is very tempting to say the least. Even the knuckleheads from SuperStreet magazine are asking about it. :-)

Actually looks like a decent project with low mileage. I say go for it Joe :)

Stop, satan. Stop tempting me in the form of Greg. LOL!!!
Wish I could, Greg. But sometimes, when something looks too good to be true, it ususally is.
Also, I ran into a little problem yesterday driving back from SC. My DD blew a tire on the highway. Not sure how or why, but all of a sudden, bang! WTF? Drove another hundred yards and felt the car get all sluggish.. Pull over to inspect and saw nothing but a rim with a strip of the remaining tire like a ring. Looks like the shredding of the tire also ripped part of the body molding. Luckily, there was no other damage and no injuries considering I was gonig about 75 mph when the tire blew.
So it looks like time to get four new tires, maybe a new rim, and if motivated get the car to a body shop to fix not only the results of yesterday's mishap but the dent on the driver's door caused by some sap who hit it while parked several months ago. Total is probably a few grand on top of the timing belt job recently done and the work done on the Laser in between. Those expenses alone would have been 1/3 the purchase price of the NSX. I presume there is at least $5K more in repairs... more if you really want to do it right with a paint job.
Besides, aren't you the one getting rid of the TL. Isn't the 3.2 litre 270hp Honda motor enough? The early NSX is only 3.0, but same output, I think.
Why don't you pick it up, fix it and then sell it to me next year when you get tired of it? I'd probably pick it up from you for $15K. That way you get to drive around in an NSX for a year for only the cost of repairs. Hehe... It was worth a shot.

Yes, the early ones did have the 3.0 liter 270HP motor. I have the 3.2 liter motor with 260HP. (obviously detuned but a little better in the torque department)
I am in the process of selling my TLS (again), this time I already have a car in mind  I would love to help you out Joe, but I need at LEAST double what that NSX is going for to pay for my next car.

Here we go again..Mr. secretive. Last time you had a secret project, it turned out to be a 92 DSM, or was it a Starion, I forget.
But for $30K, it will probably be a little more upscale. Can you at least say if it is $30K worth of new car or used car?
My cousin is selling his S6 in case you are interested....
