I was gonna Keep it Simple. It's not gonna be a Crazy Setup. And From reading and talking I'm thinking If i keep it fairly Stock I shouldn't really have issues.

For my Head I was gonna do this.

Bronze Valve Guides from Slowboy.
Mitsu Valves (OEM)
Slowboy Revised Lifters
Manley Springs and Retainers
Topline Rockers

A little Shy of 900 for everything...

Just wondering who had opinions on parts and if one thing would be better to run than others.

The new year is going to bring serious progress on my Motor...So expect alot fo tech questions.

If I ever planned to rev to 9k I'd get..

bronze valve guides
1mm SS ferrea valves
revised lifters
oem rockers
crower springs and retainers
port work

i'm waiting for gtluke to jump on and say OEM heads are perfectly fine for apps up to 500 whp  and sad to say, I'm starting to believe the sumbitch. stock is best!

the only things you really want to do are upgrade the lifters, replace the valve stem seals and check to see if there is any casting flash(sp??) to clean up. that shit that hangs over oils passages and such after the casting process, it flakes off for the most part
and yea replace worn and broken shit a long the way

yuuuup leave it alone
but yeah i suggest mitsu OEM valves
other than that it doesn't matter.
my local machine shop does a deck and check for next to nothing. usually your head needs nothing but he checks it. is fully apart at the time of decking so putting in new shit like springs or valves is no charge. guides on the other hand need to be fucked with so thats extra. you don't really need to replace them unless they are wearing. my head has 200k on it and the factory valve guides. works just fine.

It's a bare head essentially as it sits now.

Valve springs and valves...Thats it.

What would you guys suggest as the best valve springs. Im gonna go with the fp2x2 cams i think which require a stronger spring. I heard the single springs like crowers are only slightly stronger then stock, are dual spring setups the best? I dont feel like spending a ton either, just something that will rev fairly high without those cams fucking it up or floating a valve. Thanks

I've got these in my car:

http://www.importperformanceparts.net/i ... mitsu.html (http://www.importperformanceparts.net/imports/ferrea6000-mitsu.html)

I won't run anything but Ferrea or Mitsu OEM in my car. I'm not saying the other brands are no good but my machinist (and good friend) strongly recommended the Ferrea over all the others. He said they are the best quality and flow the best, plus the 6000 series is very reasonably priced.

Crower springs and retainers are only slightly stronger than stock WHEN just thrown in and not shimmed. Crower rates their springs at *** percent stronger (can't remember the number right now) but in the fine print you'll see that it's at *** installed spring height. They're cheap and fine to run if installed right, but there are other options out there which are better--especially the dual spring setups. I've had my Crower springs/retainers up to 10.6k with no problem other than a few rockers popping off and breaking some lifters and valve cover....... :?

PS: I love stock valves (http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/b/t/btb139/images/mycar/deadmotor/inspectheadcc.JPG)
