If anyone is interested in body or interior parts, just shoot me an email: at sales@dsmpartout.com for a price. Seeing how 1g body/interior parts don't really sell for much if at all, Im not going to bother going nuts tearing this one apart only to store the parts for months then garbage them.

Anyone interested in the shell can make a super low offer and have it.

It was repainted last year, and while the paint is good, the actual body parts have some issues:
front fender & pass door hit. fender bent, both chipped paint. It "chould" look halfway decent with some effort"
rear bumper on pass side isn't fitted correctly
front bumper is cut for fmic with what might have been a 4th grader
interior is all taken apart.

The previous owner stopped driving it after hearing what he thought was a "knock" from the motor during a wot pull, he assumed blown motor/spun bearing. I dissassembled the engine and could find nothing wrong. Still have not found anything abnormal or broken on the car so far.

Kinda funny, the car looks perfect from 15ft and in the pictures, but as would be expected from a dsm, the devil is in the details.

OK, Im going over to check it out this afternoon.

Im going to pull the pan to find the "knock" first.

If it's a balance shaft bearing, then I need to really investigate the body/interior and decide If I want to quick fix it and try to sell the car complete & running.

If I find a spun rod/main bearing or anything broken, the car will get parted out and Ill set prices show pics..typical.

let me know about them cams.. im intersted.. thanks for that wastegate by the way..

Ok, perplexing. I pulled the oil pan and found nothing but clean oil and a single small piece of cast flash from the block. All the rods look and feel fine, pistons look fine from bottom. front balance shaft is not spinning: belt is missing. Rear shaft spins fine and isn't loose or heat discolored. So, the bottom end seems perfectly fine thus far. It would have vibrated bad with only the rear shaft spinning, but nothing that would cause this kid to think it blew up. Plus he told me that the belt was missing when he put the cams in anyway, it was like that the whole time he owned the car.

Here's what he had to say about the problem:

yea it has a blow bottom end, i was doing a 3rd gear pull at 24psi or so and it started knocking real bad. ( i think spun bearing ). clutch and trans work great, never had a problem, clutch is a act 2900, actually about 6 months old (have the reciept from jnz)

Maybe the clutch disk broke?

tomorrow Im going to pull the motor/trans out and start taking stuff apart. The body is really not in that great of shape and it's just not going to be worth getting everything together to sell it as a running car. The pass door is bent and paint flaking, as is the fender. It won't be right without repainting those two parts.

So expect a partout price list update tonight, and some photos tomorrow after parts come off and are seperated and cleaned up.

will you be able to check the head for flatness?

Nate Crisman

will you be able to check the head for flatness?

Yeah, I don't see any reason why I can't give it a quick check with a T square once I get it all apart.

tomorrow Ill pull the motor and split it apart.

As for the turbine housing, I'm thinking I may actually do some heavy porting on this housing and swap it for the Evo316g that is already on my GVR4. That way I can do it with less downtime vs pulling my turbo to do the porting. My GVR4's 16g has a normal 7cm housing, not the evo3 type. I think Rich swapped it on when the evo3 housing stripped some holes.

yeah, I also broke a turbo bolt in mine and don't want to bother fixing it... I do plan on getting a new turbo in the near future but running on 3 bolts even temporarily... but then you could sell me that normal 7cm housing when you're done I guess?

yeah, that would work. I'm not sure how quick Im going to get that done, as I was kinda thinking about trying to do the turbo porting, swap in a built motor, cams, and intake/spray at the same time.

I ran out of time today and wasn't able to get the front case and Bshafts out of the shortblock. Mostly, I don't have air tools in the new garage yet where I did this partout and forgot to break loose the main crank bolt before pulling the motor. So I gotta cart the shortblock over to the other garage to break that and the flywheel bolts loose. Tomorrow will get the shafts out.

any chance you'll have that 7cm housing for sale by friday?...

Nate Crisman
04-07-2009, 08:50 AM
I doubt I'm going to have time to even work on the housing, let alone swap it into my car. I gotta remove a broken stud too on the one going in.

normally I have 2 days to work on cars during the week, but this week we have an electrician coming on wednesday to hook up power to my lift YEAH FINALLY. but that means I gotta spend today cleaning the garage up so the guy has space to work, and spend wendesday digging the ditch from the house to the garage for the conduit, then filling it back in.

are the trunk interior panels in good condition?

I know both side panels are busted around the hatch struts (like some idiot couldn't be bothered to take panels off to change the struts and just blew up holes to get in there.

The back most panel might be usable, Ill take a look.
