A 04 honda cbr600rr and
98 eclipse gst
for a brand new 06 evo9, to make a long story short the parents dont like the streetbike and said I can get the evo as long as i sold the bike and id obviously have to give up the car to. Its really hard to decide cause some days im like "ya F*ck the bike" and other days its like "i cant get rid of my stupid fast bike for a car"
just curious what u guys think

Personally I have no self control, I know ahead of time I would kill myself on a crotch rocket (and almost have), so I'd ditch the bike in favor of something with seatbelts and airbags, but that's just me.

ha...every fall I tell myself the same thing, yet no matter what I find myself riding come spring. I gave up on giving up riding.

I'd keep the car and Bike.
Nothing beats a Streetbike in the summertime.
Unless you have the AMS Evo. thats about the only way the bike is losing.
Evo's are nice.
But you already have boost. Don't knock FWD stick with it and keep the bike
IMO.

Fuck the MR, 6-speeds suck in the 1/4. Stick with the bike and car. You can fuck up the gst and rebuild it MUCH cheaper than the evo.

actually kris, evo 9's stuck in the 1/4
the 9's 5speed is close ratio and tops out 4th at 109

the MR is still a waste of money

sell them both and buy the evo. If you still want a bike, but a motocross bike. they are cheaper, more fun and chances are you will just get hurt and not dead on one.

98% of the time I do no regret getting rid of my street bike, I got it before the dsm and thought that it would satisfy me, but I ended up with the dsm anyway, sold the bike 2 years later. There are just so many more ways and chances to die from someone else being stupid on a bike that you learn to really appreciate the "cage". Look at what happened to Luke, and he didn't even have a "fast" bike.

That is one thing that always turned me off about street bikes and NJ. You could just be minding your own bussiness and BAM some dumb bitch on her cell phone just flattens you. Granted riding a dirt bike certainly has its risks too. But dispite breaking I think 13 bones now, I am still here, in one piece and not crippled.

Plus, a 600 isn't quick. Step up to a liter bike if you want quick.
Sell them both and get the Evo.

I just got into bikes and I still suck, but it hasnt worn off on me yet. Theres nothing like a nice ride on a warm summer day.
Yeah the Evo is AWD and a new car (hello warranty) but you're talking about a $25k to $30k difference between what you have now and selling them for the Evo. Is that a lot for your family? If the money is meaningless, how much do you wana piss your folks off by keeping bike?
Too personal of a decision.

Sell the bike and car to get the evo BUT if you really like bikes just wait awhile (probably when the evo is paid off or when you move out the house) then you can get your self another bike and your parents can't bitch.

not bashing on u but if u think a 600rr is slow you have proble never ridden one, they do 10.7 in the quater stock and the power i get outta 6th gear on a bike feels like my car boosting fully in 3rd
also i have a atv for the woods i was lucky enough to keep that still, im suprised they didnt say get rid of that to, i dont like 2 wheels in the woods/dirt
and the id have to stick with the regular evo9 for 32k or the dealership said they can try and find me a evo8 and pay less for that since its a leftover

That's exactly what happened to my friends brother. She took off afterwards too. Luckily, he's still alive today.
Sell them both and get an Evo.

I've been riding on the street for over 12 years. I currently have an '02 ZX-9R with a pipe.
A 600 in 6th gear at 60mph has no chance against a 16g/FMIC DSM in 3rd gear ~60mph. The DSM will kill it. I don't know if MY bike could even keep up with that combo in 6th gear.
My wife has a '95 ZX-6R. It was the first 600 into the 10's. When I ride the bikes back to back, it's a HUGE difference between the two.

You can't compare gearing on a bike and a car.
They rev WAY Higher than a car ever will.
When it all comes down to it...in a straight line...the bike will win up until you have a pretty beastly DSM.
I don't own a bike...but I have plenty of buddies who ride.
They all say there glad they got one...You really can't beat the Go fast quality for as cheap as you can get a Decent Bike.
The amount of money you spend on as car to make it go just as fast as a bike is probably the same if not damn close.
Your just safer in the car :D

that was my GF :)
actually i havn't seen $0.01 from my accident.
they don't want to pay more than $900 for my MINT condition bike with 6,500 miles on it.
they won't pay for my riding suit, or my helmet. all destroyed and all with less than 10 rides on them.
they won't pay for my hospital bills, $35,000 worth
the tows, the impound fees, nothing.
but its all in court.
i can't stress enough to you bike guys how important it is to call your AUTO insurance company and make sure they cover you on a bike. even if you haev motorcycle insurance, IT DOES NOT COVER YOUR INJURIES. only the PROPERTY damage YOU inflict to someone else. your auto insurance covers your injury protection. the guy that hit you IS NOT LIABLE FOR YOUR INJURIES IN NEW JERSEY.
i wish i wish i wish someone had told me this previously. i had NO idea it was like this.
also, say i lost a limb or two or was permenantly fucked up... even if i get FULL reward from my insurance of $100,000 you are FUCKED on the rest. they guy that hit me has $3,000 in the back, a $1,000 car and a shitty appartment. if i go to court and win a million dollar settlement for my loss of legs or something, i'll get $100,000 and thats fucking it.
SO... INCREASE your PIP coverage on your AUTO insurance and make sure they will cover you on a MOTORCYCLE.
that no threshhold stuff is bullshit. there is no money to get anyway even if i could sue.
so if you keep the bike, make sure your insurance is what you think it is because more than likely it is not. i learned the HARD way and i'm trying to preach this to as many riders as i can. the best thing to do is insure your bike with your auto company. some will cover motorcycles like geico and state farm, but some like mine will not and i got a 3rd party coverage through Rider insurance. unknown to me this resulted in ZERO medical coverage. your health insurance will deny the claim because it was an automobile accident.
spread the word and take my advice.

Luke,
Are you saying that the person that hit you is an uninsured/undersinsured motorist? Or is his/her insurance company just not willing to settle at this time? I do not know the specifics of your accident and certainly do not want you to go into specifics on a forum, but something does not sound right.
Personal Injury Protection (aka PIP) is the system used in NJ and other states, and is probably why many insurance companies hate doing business in the state. However, it does make it a bit easier for the injured party to get medical care when they do not have to wait for a settlement to pay the doctors/hospitals since your own insurer is responsible for your medical costs.
However, the party at fault is still liable for compensatory damages and that is what you put in your pocket for the "pain and suffering", "lost wages" "loss of consortium" (but in your case that may be a pre-existing condition...lol), etc and is a payment outside of the medical expenses.
It is advisable to pick up the tort threshhold coverage (if you can afford it) since that means that no matter how minor your injuries, you can still collect from the insurance company. But in your case, if your injuries are as serious as they seem from the board, the fact that you did not get tort threshold should not be a factor in insurance coverage.
Good luck. Typical PI cases settle on the average about two years after the accident (and that is with a fairly simple case). Then after all of the discovery (interrogatories, depositions), medical exams, preliminary court appearances, you pay 1/3 of the remaining amount of your settlment after the costs expended by the law firm are first removed (for medical reports, copy costs, postage, etc).
Personal injury law practice sucks IMHO... a LOT of stress, difficult clients, long delays, haggling with insurance companies, and so on, but the PI lawyers always seem to drive the nicest cars and have the biggest homes and their own office buildings. Go figure.

RODE THE COMMODE: Michael Eugene Johnson, 34, was riding his motorcycle
in Custer, S.D., when a portable toilet fell off a truck. Investigators
say the toilet flying through the air struck Johnson, knocking him into
the path of three cars. He was killed, and his family in Texas is suing
Sander Sanitation Service, charging that the toilet was improperly
secured to the truck. Sander Sanitation's lawyer disputes the charge.
"I don't have any information that he was struck by [the toilet]," said
attorney Dan Ashmore. "We're still in the fact-finding process."
Further, he said, "There wasn't any damage to speak of to the Porta
Potti. It's not humorous, but it's probably not the best way to go."

you can get like a honda blah bike for like a grand that you can at least dork arround with and use as a spare vehicle.
but buying a cheap crotch rocket i wouldn't suggest. when they get older they get dangerous. find something boring that was dirt cheap to begin with that just sat in someone's garage forever with under 10k miles on it. insurance on it will be like nothing too if you can find something under 600cc's
my bandit was $100 a year cause it was a 400

Yeah when it comes to bikes you want to have something fairly new or in good condition. You can't fuck around with older bikes that have been beaten on consistently. That doesn't happen in all cases though, one my my teachers has a big cruiser bmw bike with 170k miles he put in 2 years from cruising around the US with his wife and it only dook a dump recently. Just have to be aware at what you buy and what condition it's in
