What charge were you arrested for? Did they just detain you in the car and release you, or were you booked for assault and everything? If your going to court, first thing first you need to go to a doctor asap and have him look you over for any visible marks of injury. Next, find ANY witnesses to the scene you can find. If you dont have a written report of physical damage, or a witness to what happened, your case really is tough to prove. Once again, its your word versus hers, and typically men are the ones doing the abusing so the favor tends to land with the females. At least this sealed the deal that you wont ever be associating with this girl anymore :lol:

Except what if she then made up an even more outlandish story claiming that he tried to assault her and even self-inflicted injuries to back up her story and then "she" contacted the police? At least this way, there is some record that "he" contacted the police. Also, he established his version of the events on the record at the time of the incident and could show injuries which corroborate his claims.

I guess it really upsets a woman when she realizes how she will be missing the luvin' from a guy with a "BIG BLOCK" :-)

I'll agree with Joe here.... the worst thing you can do is leave the cops out of it. Next thing you know, you drive home and she goes inside and beats the shit out of herself and then calls the cops saying YOU did it. They show up to your door and arrest you and you're toast. Once it happens to you, you'll think differently as well.... (speaking from personal experience)

I would definitely get a restraining order against her, change your phone numbers and try to move on. It's hard, it will take time, but it's the best thing to do. Good luck..

I understand not everyone has that option though. sounds like you didnt have a witness option either. I would say the physical pictures are your best bet. And see if she is willing to lie in court when you take her.

It's one thing if the cops are trying to make the best call, but its another thing for them to not even check the obvious to HIS claim since he called and see the injuries to him. Cops can be dicks like that and I think he should sue to beacuse they did not do their job properly. I heard an identical case last year with a husband and wife and the cops wouldnt even listen to the husband despites his various bruises and injuries. It's one thing to arrive at a scene with the attitude that this guy is more likely to have hit her, but to not take the simply minute or 2 and make obvious observations is stupid. Good luck!

You will draw lots of negative attention to yourself and be wasting even more money, but hey, what do I know :roll: Mistakes are made every day, you certainly are not the only one that has been falsely incriminated. Talk to your lawyer again and go over everything, he will tell you if you have a legitimate case to sue someone or not. Most likely it will be for assault against the gf, to which you might claim for punitive damages to help compensate for your monetary loss. The officers in court will pull the standard "i made the best decision with the information presented to me at the time". A cop can legally get away with shooting someone if he thinks they are reaching for a weapon, do you honestly think you will be successful suing the department for detaining you? File a complaint to the department, sue the ex, and go on your merry way, just remember to document everything, you were VERY smart taking those pictures, a doctor's testimony wont hurt either.

I dunno exactly what the law says in NJ but in most states if there are signs of physical attack on both people some states they have to arrest both people but usually they have to arrest at least one, and they always take the dude.
