that guy is a total liar.
i told him when he left to watch for smoke, but to expect some from the downpipe, but if it smoked for MORE THAN ONE DAY to come back. he never fucking called and told us about the smoke. i'm sure more of my customers here can back me up when i say that, cause i say it all the fucking time.
he came back like 6 weeks later with a broken trans and the passenger side axle seal torn up. his piece of shit downpipe was rubbing on the x-case BAD. enought to take like a 1/4" of aluminum off of it.
the transmission oil on an evo is passed into the x-case to lubricate that axle, so really the oil leaked out of the x-case, but it was the trans oil not the x-case fluid. its just the way it is set up where the pass side axle goes into the x-case.
that guy has NO idea what he is doing, total newb. he lost THREE quarts of trans fluid and never noticed. he also keeps the car in a garage on a clean floor and still didn't notice.
the bottom of his car was HOSED in gear oil. BAD. it was dripping off the back bumper.
i also drove that car 20-30 miles and then put it back on the lift with the owner. nothing was leaking at the time. i'm WELL aware of the x-case oring from chinto's car, the 2nd evo clutch i did so no it wasn't that.
he had shit hanging out of his pass side axle seal.
we did him a favor and returned his car back to stock per his request to try and get mitsu to cover it. aparently it didn't work.
that guy is just pissed because he ruined his trans with shitty parts and was oblivous to 3 quarts of gear oil all over his fucking car.
what a tool. we can't be responsible for him being a space cadet. he was nice at the time so i don't understand why he posts this SIX MONTHS LATER. wtf?

wow they are individually viewing all accounts before activation? gay
man what a liar. i appologized a thousand fucking times that i was sorry this has happened to him. he's a LIAR. i said i was sorry it happened to him but i never said i was sorry for f'ing up his car because i didn't. his crappy parts did and his lack of attention.
the dealer told him we didn't tighten the drain bolt. that was just their excuse. the oil was CLEARLY all over the passenger side right at the axle seal and the driver side was dry. plus i had to drain and fill the trans to get it out to remove his clutch.
PLUS he's got the order of events screwed up. i told him that his trans was hosed when it was parked outside the shop. then at HIS request we pulled the trans and put a stock clutch back in it so he could try and fool the dealer. we didn't need to take the trans out to tell him the thing was friggan ruined. it was RATHER apparent.
what a jerkoff. what a way to piss me off. i have fucked up in the past, we all do. but i have ALWAYS done my part to correct the situation and fess up to the screwup instantly.
the downpipe was covered in exhaust wrap because he was getting annoyed at the vibrations against the trans because it didn't fit right. then the wrap was cut through and hanging into the axle.
i have seen a WHOLE plastic shopping bag get sucked into a transmission before and TOAST it as it dumped all the fluid almost instantly. one of my customers at my other shop.
i'm mad

wow those guys on evoM have no idea what they are talking about. what trans pan bolts? thats hilarious.
he keeps talking about the leak he hears about from other members. i know what he's talking about. the o ring between teh trans and x-case. this happened to me with chinto's car and it is OBVIOUS with the test drive. you see some drips on the x-case and its immidiate. it also comes down a foot and a half to the side of where all the oil was on his car.
you can fully unbolt a transmission and it won't leak exept for that o-ring.

the best part is how stupid these members are.
the downpipe runs down the better half of the PASSENGER SIDE yet the transmission is on the DRIVERS SIDE.
he had a leak on the outermost area of the drivers side. its VERY apparent from under his car where the leak was. it was ONLY on the passenger side of the car. split like directly in half by the driveshaft. it was ALL over the passenger side door and rocker.

UGHHHHH.... the people there are so ridiculously stupid and un/misinformed it hurts my intelligence to read that BS. I registered but again they are screening people so I can't reply to anything on there to defend Rene. The people are such luddites and the one guy who responded with "The customer is always right," I agree with completely when the situation is such that the customer is actually right and not, such as in this case, COMPLETELY WRONG.
The guys there can't even understand what Rene is adding as logic which is just plain sad. Rene basically said that when you change the clutch there are no bolts that you can leave loose that would cause a leaky trans (obviously aside from the fill or drain however it is set up), so everyone and there mother goes on there and posts about how if you leave the trans pan bolts loose it will leak and blahdy blah, and when Rene clarifies that that is not only not a likely cause but that it should be completely ruled out as the trans pan bolts have nothing to do with changing the clutch, they tell him HE is the one that doesn't know what he's talking about.
Some people are just so stupid it hurts, and I firmly believe that you can find the majority of them in one of three places: Honda forums, WRX forums, and Evolutionm.net. My $.02
PS- Don't even get me started on how when someone comes up with a sob story how every dumbass who can barely produce text in comprehensible english is suddenly an expert on the law and can spew legal jargon to the point where people actually agree with them, and yet they still have to merely recommend talking to a lawyer about it.
And what about how this guy is so trustworthy because he could get his friends to lend him $4000. Oh please they must be as stupid as he is and I agree 100% with Rene that if you don't know anything about cars and don't honestly have any intent on learning, I don't care how much money you have to throw around, you should NOT be messing around with these cars. If you have all that crazy mad loot yo you should be driving a, for lack of a better word, "nicer" car than an EVO (don't misconstrew that as me downplaying the EVO in any way shape or form aside from the fact that it is not, nor should it be expected to be such, a luxury or sports luxury car). Not to mention, I don't remember hearing anything about chunks of metal or any of that but seriously, buy the right / right quality parts and get things done the right way so people don't end up in these situations to begin with. That guys post reeks of BS.

Here's a classic line from one of them:
He just started this thread soley to warn us. Which is pretty admirable, As you guys know I would have flamed them like no other.
This is funny, and I love oversimplifying things because it makes them look stupid.
1. He gets clutch installed.
2. He sees smoke after install, and asks about it.
3. Smoke continues for a couple hundred miles (no call to the shop).
4. Smoke continues at 1000 mile mark (still, no call to the shop).
5. Transmission finally dies after 2000 miles.
6. Takes car back (finally) is upset that they charge him to diagnose problem.
7. Tells them to return to stock in a shameful attempt to scam a warranty repair from the dealer.
8. Dealer doesn't bite.
Why is nobody asking this kid these questions:
1. Why didn't you contact DSMotorsports after it continued to smoke for a couple hundred miles?
2. Why didn't you contact DSMotorsports after it continued to smoke for 1000 miles?
3. Why even bother to contact DSMotorsports after the transmission broke?
4. Why even throw in there the fact that DSMotorsports did what they do with all customers and charge a fee for a transmission removal?
5. What were you thinking trying to scam the dealer?
Unrelated questions:
1. If he is a college student with no money, how did he get his hands on a $30,000 car?
2. If he is a college student with no money, what is he doing replacing a perfectly good working factory clutch with a racing one?
3. If he is a college student with no money, what is he doing replacing anything on that car if it's not broken?
A lot of good his college education is doing.
And maybe it's me, but I don't believe for a second that Nate told this kid something as stupid as debris from the downpipe wrapping finding its way into the seal.
Dealers aren't stupid, and they're not going to lose money performing warranty work because of this kid's stupidity.
This kid really is an idiot for the simple fact that he saw the signs that there might have been something wrong, yet he continued to drive this car (and probably beat the piss out of it) as if nothing was wrong. The leigon of 'me too' idiots on that forum aren't helping the situation with their screams of LAWSUIT!!!! in every third post is ludicrious. I bet he'll be able to pony up funds for a lawyer no problem.
