7.9@179 is confirmed. I haven't heard about the 7.8 one.
i left after the finals and he didnt make another pass. the best was a 7.9@179 that he ran against ron lummus who eliminated him.

he pulls the chute and all hell breaks lose
You guys notice two things.
1- Lummus pulls away from him like hes standing still. Yet they both ran within each other.
2- Lummus's chute didnt open.

I noticed past half track, Lummus pulls away hard... never noticed his parachute not opening completely until now though. Must have been scary on the brakes!!
not sure how the rules apply but lummus cut a much better light then John hence him being so far in front and the times being so close.

Thanks captain obvious. Take for example the sport fwd finals. Ferguson went a 9.68 to a winning 9.71. The difference in reaction times was a .095 for ferguson to Ballards .065

Shep said on tuners that the cars still got more left in it.... rediculous...

Relax, rick. I dont live at the race track hence me saying, "not sure how the rules apply." I'm sure john has a lot left in the car especially now that he "bogged the launch"??

I cant read his tach, but it sounds to me like shep is running out of gear? I noticed he is in fourth before the 1/8.
Man does that car sound awesome, I cant belive how fast he can shift it. Even for a dogbox, sounds like he has a lenco.

He also said on tuners that he came through the traps on the rev limiter but that it was an easy fix.

yeah well he went faster than he ever has before, so he creeped past the rpm which he would anticipate crossing the line at.
you should cross the finish line 300 rpm's above your shift point.

Aside from watching the tach drop, I know of a certain forum where he read that.
Did someone just say Fight Club?

Thank You sir. Now from what i saw at the track it sounded like the car went onto the limiter as he went through the traps. Back in the pits he said the head was lifting and that the car missed up top for some reason he didnt know. So stay tuned im sure he'll be going 7.8 at Norwalk for the NOPI finals. One thing that i would like to see is since hes geared more towards the race car class now would be cool for him to try and adapt a supra rear in there since they are pretty strong compared to a dsm one. But im sure he wont bother since there have been plenty of rumors around the pits about something new for next year.

I'd think it would make more sense for him to build a FWD DSM that is an all out race car. A fiberglass body on a tubular frame with a solid front axle (like the cars he's competing with). It seems that the front drive set ups are pretty sorted out and are putting down some impressive times. Imagine another 500-600lbs lighter and a proper FWD drag racing suspension under the car  . I'm looking foward to whatever Shep comes with next year.
John
Ill leave it at this think RWD

I wouldn't be suprised at RWD but I think he'd be more competitive in a class with similar (4cyl/no Supras) cars. I hope he does a FWD to beat the sh*t out of all of those damn Honda drag cars but I'd like to see him run a all out RWD car as well.

It's news to me.... Last time I saw that car, I thought Bruce Kwartler from (aka Mighty Mouse) was selling it on the DSMTRADER. So is that what Shep bought? That would be two for two... taking Buscher's projects and breaking records.
That was Daves old 92 back halfed car. The one Shep bought was the full tube 95 talon.

Oh "that" RWD. Holy cow, is Buscher going to get out of racing his own cars all together or does he have another project in the works?
At this ponit only FWD/WWD is left.
