SRT-4 vs. EVO8

My buddy's modded '04 SRT-4 ran against my other friend's stock '05 Evo8. Neon's mods: AGP Cold side pipe with Greddy Flange, Greddy Type RS BOV, Psi-Fi MMs, Stage 1, K&N Typhoon CAI, CM Stg3 Clutch, AGP WGA, NGK Plugs, MSD 8mm Wires, 3" Custom TBE w/ Apexi N1 Style Muffler, Maddog STS 50% Throw, Booger Bushings, Greddy Profec E-01. From a roll from 30-100 the neon took the Evo by 2-2.5 cars. Later they raced from a dig. My friend with the Evo doesn't know how to launch the car really well yet(thinks he does), but the neon gets absolutely no traction(especially since it was on snow tires at the time. They ran 1/4 mile and the Evo still took it down by about 4-5 cars. I think if I was driving it probably would've been more like 8-10 cars. The Evo's never been to the track. The neon has but never put up good e.t.s. It has trapped as high as 105mph.

srt4 should be faster then that. he has as lsd and a shit load of mods. My old best friend had an 03 without the lsd with almost identical mods and took out an evo with mods including cams. srt4s are not to be messed with on the highway after doing more then stage 1 and a couple other goodies.

yeah, they are great on the highway, but the moment you try and launch a FWD car that has over 300lbft of tourque... u be spinnin all day long!

its not just the amount of power that makes fwd slip. That car in general SUCKS with tire spin. nothing resembling an lsd and a light ass front end equals insanely bad traction. Once again another reason why I hate those neons minus the interior falling apart. I think the 05's came with an lsd but i could be mistaken... they will be done in a year or so anyway and all the 17 year old kids that have bought them will run them into the ground. I dont expect to see many surviving over the course of the next 7 years at all.

not everyone that owns that car is 17 years old and dumb, lol, although many are, more now than ever, cuz you can buy used ones for so cheap... the car itself is a fun car and since when to interiors start falling apart? the only issue i ever ran into in 2 years was my stock shift knob coming off when i power shifted, lol, but thats changed now and ive never had problems with my interior! i mean, its no RSX, but its still a decent car!

05's came with LSD as well... you'd be suprised how many of these will last, there are guys that have had 03's since they were released and they have MAYBE 5,000 miles on them... those are the tru enthusiasts! me, hell, i have had mine almost 2 years and i just broke 40k, LOL, but its my daily driver and i drive ALOT, mainly down south towards Sayreville almost everyday cuz thats where my girl lives, and i work in watchung, near union, so needless to say, i drive alot, haha

im surprised you have an aftermarket clutch, my friends held up to almost 400hp. also, the mopar blow off valve piece is much cheaper.

Well as for the interior breaking, I've seen everything from the windows falling off their door tracks, console buttons breaking and pushing directly into the dash, shifter breaking completely, clutch pedal falling off etc. And that isnt counting the random things wrong with the car directly off of the truck. Everything from missing kick plates under the dash to no bulbs in the headlights etc. For the money it isnt a bad car to go fast on, but thats just it, its a cheap car because it isnt made to last, its built on a cheap commuter car chassis. As for the comment about 17 year old kids driving the car i didnt mean it as much about mileage as i did about abuse.... for how cheap the car is and how it is styled, it is in essence built for teenagers to drive and parents to afford. It is a rare find to see anyone over 25 driving one of these cars. For a 17 y.o. to own this car is going to destroy most of these cars. Learning to drive stick, h.s. parking lot burnouts, blown turbos, starving it of oil etc. As a first time driver I think most of us didnt really have the best interests of the integrity of the car in mind :oops: myself included. Obviously there are exceptions to this, but the life of neon's arent notriously long either, so my intuition tells me that these cars will be a rare breed in about 5 years. I obviously have a bias against these cars, but it is only because I have worked with and driven these cars from time to time for 2 years working at a dodge dealership. Sorry for the rant, just clarifying my previous statement

i completely understand... everyone is entitled to an opinion, there are plenty of 17 year olds i have seen that beat the piss out of the car, but suprisingly, my car club, 85% is over 21 and theres a guy that just sold his who is turning 60 next month, haha

but i agree, for the most part, young kids give this car a bad name

for the interior statements, i cant say much, cuz i havent seen anything like that, but hey, to each their own! haha

for the money i spent, i cant complain, u know? im plannin on runnin this to the ground but keeping the car in good shape while doing so and rebuild the motor from the ground up when its time, so needless to say, im gonna have this car for years to come, LOL

the clutch was a mistake, lol, looked at the car, broke my car at the track, thought it was the clutch, turns out it was the axle, but i had already bought the CM stg 3, so i said fuck it, and threw it on anyways! haha

as for the mopar "bov" LOL, its not a BOV, its just a noise maker... besides, when you go big turbo, you need a real bov, not a dodge surge valve with a blue rice plate on it, haha

I see plenty of people around Newark area who think they've got the fastest car in the whole world just because it's a Srt-4. Pretty pathetic. I've also known many great people who drive those cars and one of our own, Kevin, who used to have Gregs old TSI bought a srt-4 :wink: .
