Who's heard about that gumball/rally idea circulating around the internet? Suposedly from top of nj racing all the way down to exit 1 or some shit. Pretty stupid in my opinion but whatever. Troopers won't hesitate to pull over a group of imports/comestics rumbling down the parkway...

they had gumball here in the states too. but this race im talking about seems pretty shot. they dont even know the date, and its organized by some kid from matawan whos gonna race his evo... doesnt sound too legit to me...

The guys at Techademics did those dvd's called mischief that featured a gumball rally in the US. Much better then the european one imo

nah man, there is definitely a gumball rally in the states. Matt (jazzyscooter) got invited to be in it with his old school vw golf 2 years back but he crashed the car a week before the actual rally. I think it starts in like mass. and ends in jersey or something. Apparently the one originally posted isnt the same thing, but the actual gumball rally does exist here. maybe if he see's this thread he can post something about it, i dont remember the details

My friends and I rip around Jersey a few times a year. It usually starts at Bergan Lambo and ends at a restaurant. The only difference is that we all drive exotics. Murci, Gallardo, 430, 360, 911, etc. I usually borrow my friends Diablo to drive with them, or I hop in someone elses car. They all hate when I bring the Lex out. hehehe. The new comers to the fun always loose a couple hundred bucks to the "stock SC" to break them in. Then we all spend the rest of the night drinking and eating. There is a thing as too much fun with your clothes on. 8)

The gumball rally iun the 60s (or was it 70s?) was a race across the US just like cannonball. If you were gona do (or be in) something like that, as soon as anyone talked about it on the internet its pretty much fucked and wont happen or will happen with people going to jail.

There are tons of "rallys" that go up and down NJ and up and down the east coast. Its not a real race, usually a bunch of cars doing the normal "10 over" the limit on the highway, and then some speeding on some backroads. But nobody racing or really tearing it up.

There was just a nice one the Subie guys put on. Started on a Friday morning on Philly (big party Thursday night), Saturday night they ended up in Niagra Falls and Canada after driving around on the snowcovered backroads to get there, then Sunday took went through Rockchester/Albany/Nyack on all thruways to get back to NJ. They had it setup as some cancer charity and had magnets on the side of their car so even if a cop pulls over the whole group "yeah its a charity drive for cancer". Now THATS how you get out of a ticket.

My Talon decided to start an overheating problem just before and my WRX nephew bailed at the last minute because he had to work.

Pretty safe (for your license) and fun.

Not as fun as a true race across the country, but I dont have the money the Gumball 3000 guys have to bail themselves out and hire lawyers.

It has an MS Racing exhaust, and I made some custom intake pipes for it too with Fikse 18 wheels and 335 Pirreli's on the back. Just a little nasty. Trying to talk him into porting the throttle bodies and nitrous!!!!!!

anyway...this talk about rally got me thinking of this one video i remember seeing a preview for on the internet. It supposedly took place ~30 or something years ago, i dont remember the car, but i do remember that it had no brakelights. If anyone knows what im talking about, please post a link. Apparently this one car rips across country nearly full throttle with no regard for police. It could never be done now, with all the new technology police have, but the video looked awesome. It was released this late so they couldnt get in trouble for it.

The Cannonball run took place on Oct. 15, 1983. The went from New York to LA in 32 hours, 7 min.
